PHUKET: Phuket Governor Phakaphong Tavipatana held a high-profile public meeting with the Chinese Consul General in Songkhla Ma Fengchun and Phuket Chinese Consular Office Vice Consul-General Li Chunfu yesterday (June 27) to highlight how safe and convenient it is for Chinese tourists to come to Phuket.

Present at the meeting, held at the Proud Phuket Hotel in Nai Yang, were a host of government officers and officials from Phuket and other Andaman coast provinces, including Phang Nga and Krabi.

Sitting to the Governor’s right at the head table of dignitaries was former Phuket Provincial Police Commander Maj Gen Teeraphol Thipjaroen, who now serves as Deputy Commander of Region 8 Police.

Again again? Another meeting?! They had this exact same discussion last Friday!

If they continue to walk around in oblivion staring at phones there is no point to meetings about safety

I like the baht-bus between 2 plant pots as a centerpiece, rather cute.

I grew up on a farm and learned many things.... Some I see happening in my later life now here living in Thailand. One thing I remember is my father telling me about the cows and the cow path. He said " Son, watch those cows and the way they walk on the path they make to the pond.. They follow the same path everyday and the path gets deeper and deeper as time goes on. In a few months it will be worn down from the smooth dirt surface and then they eventually will get down to the rocks when the dirt wears and washes away. Not one of those cows will ever step off to the side on the grass to avoid the rocks and try to make a new path. Then one day one will break its leg and fall down in the path. Then the other cows will have to walk around the cow and begin making a new path. Just keep watching them and you will see it happen. Tell me when the cow is down so we can get it and put it out of its misery and fill the freezer full." This is the exact thing happening here!  Tourism is a major economic contributor to Thailand and they are slowly killing it with inaction and denial that things are getting bad here.  Already other countries are reaping the benefits from the lack of understanding and inaction of the problems of Tourism and the changes in Immigration...

You have good eyesight.  All its missing is a miniature Thai punk sitting up front with a gun in his hand.

That would make quite a good tourist trinket idea.

It is perfectly safe to travel here as long as they don't use taxis, boats, buses, vans, motorcycles, and stay in their hotel rooms all day.

Photo caption. Cop on the right:

"I miss the good old days of shaking down and killing white Farang with jet ski. No one ever say boo about that."

.... as military "minder" over junta-appointed governor.
