"proper" Rear Suspension For Pickup

Featured Replies

I attanded a car exhibition at BITEC about a month ago. One of the products on display was a coil spring rear suspension replacement for pickups. I don't remember the name of the company but the cutaway suspension they had on display looked very good. Has anyone any knowledge or experience of this optional extra for pickups?

Are you talking about in replacement of the leaf springs? Air springs are used in lowered trucks. Although I think many larger trucks come with leaf springs, there are a number of after market products coil spring set-ups.

Replacing the leaf springs with coil springs should greatly improve the ride and handling. The best part is if you need to haul a heavy load you can always add air shocks.

Yes, the example I saw was a coil spring replacement for the leaf springs

What's the legal position in LoS regarding these?

IIRC 2 door pickups are only entitled to green plates and reduced tax if they have leaf springs on the back :o 4 door pickups don't get green plates so should be less of a problem.
