Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana plans to propose policies targeting the grassroots economy, including expanding the benefits under the welfare card scheme and promoting e-commerce in the agricultural sector.  Members of the Palang Pracharat Party, the largest in the governing coalition, congratulated Uttama on his position as the new finance minister on Friday.

Activist raises questions on rights after transgender teacher gets ‘very low’ marks

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand’s customs-cleared annual exports likely declined for a fourth straight month in June, down 5.0%, a Reuters poll showed on Friday, after falling 5.79% in the previous month.

Krabi fishermen object to east coast fishermen fishing on west coast

KRABI, 19th July 2019 (NNT) - After the National Fisheries Association of Thailand asked for opinions regarding whether to allow 27 fishing boats from the Gulf of Thailand to fish in the Andaman Sea during the monsoon season, the Krabi Fisheries Association has voiced its objection, citing conflict with conservation efforts to maintain marine resources and a sufficiency business model operated by local fishermen.

Korea’s SBS withdraws controversial ‘Law of the Jungle’ and removes producer

In its official statement, SBS says it has decided to withdraw an episode of “Law of the Jungle, the Lost Island” from its streaming platform and to remove its producer. The SBS executive was responding to negative viewer reaction caused by a scene, filmed in Thailand, which featured show host Lee Yeol Eum catching three giant clams, a protected species, to eat.

Worker succumbs to injuries after slaughter house roof collapse
