A video put together by Daily News showed an explosion and resulting fire at the Miniso shop on the third floor of Siam Square One in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A man in a surgical mask and hat carrying a shoulder bag was caught on CCTV suspiciously moving about the store on Thursday.

He was believed to have cut open a stuffed toy and placed a device inside it and put it back on the display stand.

The shop was seen closed later on Friday with a notice on the front door.

The incident is believed to be part of several bombing incidents and fires in the capital on Friday.

As if it wasn't bad enough, a hipster bomber.

wearing a facemask inside a store is highly suspect for a start

any idea why or objectives for these bombs/devices - I can think of many

I would classify the device as an incendiary device rather than a bomb.

Also...rather odd sound track used for the video????????????

It's very common to see people wearing surgical masks walking around malls and shops here. Supposedly to stop the spread of germs when they've got a cold.

Not if it was put together by the government !!

When I was with EOD in Belfast, cassette incendiaries were a regular occurrence, I have some photos somewhere of some devices made by the friendly inmates of Crumlin road jail, I'll dig them out when I get home and stick one on here.

He is obviously not a Thailand resident! Also wearing the masks in the north to prevent breathing in the smoke. But which most masks are ineffective in doing that.

actually no, most masks are pretty effective at stopping particles

I see people wearing face mask everywhere in Thailand. Not all of them are suspect.

Yes stopping particles but do they provide protection from the small microscopic particles in smoke that can damage the lungs.

Are those masks worm by the majority up to the standard as per this quote?:

"Those who want extra protection from smoke can use the “respirators” or masks that are certified by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). The only types of masks that should be used are labeled with N95 or P100.Nov 13, 2018"

Maybe the bomber knew this fact and didn't want to be breathing in such dangerous particles from his actions. ????????

And pollution. I wear a mask outside in Bangkok most days.
I would be more suspicious about the silly hat he is wearing.

Where have you been lately? It was a surgical mask, and they are very commonly worn everywhere. You could wear them anywhere without looking suspicious. They've virtually a fashion accessory these days.

Maybe he was working for the competition as there are a number of these Japanese odd & ends stores competing for business. They'll probably need an entire restock.

I hope they get to the bottom of these cowardly attacks....

On the bright side only a 100bt of stock was slightly damaged????
