Policeman Riding on Sidewalk.

Featured Replies

This morning in Bangkok I was walking along Sukhumvit Road at a narrow part of the sidewalk, a rider on a motorbike came along towards me and I refused to let him past, he wasn't wearing a helmet, he opened up his jacket to reveal a policemans uniform, he gave me a big smile and said in English "I am a policeman", so I just let him pass.

Over the years, I have stopped a few motorcyclists around this section and forced them to go back, but I would not be so stupid as to stop any motorbike taxis for obvious reasons.

And as he passed you took a photo of his number plate and are intending to report him?

You would be doing what the BMA and the police have been encouraging people to do.

If you see it happening a lot it could be a nice little earner.

You could just step aside, smile, and let them pass (anybody, not just police).

Don't worry - be happy!

What about when I visit my local markets, even the indoor one, there is no room to let them pass, sometimes they are right up your ass.

I really hate those guys riding on the sidewalk, but think confronting them is a great way to get yourself hurt or worse. I figure the last thing they want is some white-boy telling them what to do in their own country.

What about a certain faith who do just that all over the UK?
