home security cctv dvr import requirements

Featured Replies

Coming back over in November and had thoughts about sending a home security camera system (for my wife's house) in from China ( via Ebay) to save lugging it in with me.

Especially since the air travel have dropped down from 30Kg to 20 for checked-in luggage.

Anyone know what this would entail as regard to any import duty that might be applied and if so, how does one go about paying whatever amount.

Perhaps not worth the effort..??

I would just buy it here on Lazada or AliExpress and duty is taken care of, less hassle, no worries.

Yes.

Buy locally.

Many choices, specialized companies.

Yes well I'm quite capable and experienced at fitting myself (electrical contractor) and at the current exchange rate 15,000 is around the AU$750.00 mark.

One I've used here in Aus cost around $300 complete with 8 cameras and a 2 tb hdd, works fine now for the last 5 years.

Current cost is much the same.

Don't have any experience with Lazada so I'll check it out.

Aliexpress don't have any facility for Paypal and I wasn't too keen about giving them either bank or debit card details.

Ali express are fine I've ordered a lot off them over the years and never had customs duty to pay ,they put it down at a low price or as a sample. Safe to add a credit card as well, although Lazada sell systema WiFi with four cameras for about 4,000 baht.
