Got a Samsung J7 pro and recently did an update and get this stupid thing on my screen now every time  wake phone up. Locks everything until I close screen and re open. Not sure if a bug or something the software update added or what. It's really annoying though. Looks like there is a settings button on the white lock screen thing but it doesn't work. The problem is the white section at the top of the screen with time, date,

magnifier and options cog. None of these icons can be pressed. I simply close the screen with the right button and re open again and it's ok. But this always comes up after screen has timed out. There was another software update about a week later which I figured may have fixed it but didn't.

Have the same phone, did the update with no issue.

Just went to check, there was a new update, did that and all good.

It seems the white panel you have is missing the row of icons that have the connections like Bluetooth Wi-Fi etc see below.

This you can swipe up to top screen close it swipe down from top screen to open.

Yes its like the drop down panel is dropping down all by itself after reopening the phone. Definitely a bug of some kind

Only a suggestion, but try dragging it all the way down to fill the screen then flick it back up to close it, if might reset it.

When it comes up like that, its immovable. Can not drag it down, or slide it sideways out of the way and none of the functions work. I have to close the screen and re open then its gone and all ok

if you have a pc you can back your phone up using Smart Switch and then reset it.

reset takes it back to out of the box.

another idea. try deleting all your downloaded apps one by one as close to reverse order as you can.

check to see if it works after each delete.

back up app data first.

I have rebooted of course but battery not removeable in a J7. Yes can factory reset but at this stage a last resort

The forums really are becoming unusable. I like a joke and keep things light but the place for this farang pub. Get tired of looking at multiple notifications from half wits who think theyre comedians. Usually after the 3rd post things go from a topic about a smart phone problem to a smarty pants competition about the price of fish in Zimbabwe

the 'image' presented reminds me of the effect resulting from the Launcher having a problem.

try the Hold power button for 20secs ReBoot; then try downloading an alternative Launcher from the Play Store.

of the available Launchers; the 'Evie' seems quite stable... as was the Nova launcher

The 'Joy' Launcher created similar screen problems to the OP

Solved the mystery. Took my phone to Samsung shop in the mall today and young guy sorted it in 2 minutes. Apparently bug caused by an app locker application I have. All good now.
