Bereavement Payments

Featured Replies

I have just read in the Daily Mail that the system changed in 2017 and now your wife won't be entitled to anything if you die here in Thailand.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/pensions/article-7371473/Do-qualify-bereavement-benefit-six-years-widowed.html  and https://www.gov.uk/bereavement-support-payment

Just a heads up as I thought my wife would get the £2000 in the event.

The system was changed and things were in motion well before 2017 when I came here with my Thai wife from England she was going to get a % pension frozen payment amount at 66 year old, and a bereavement lump sum payment on my demise and monthly amount sum calculated from my 44 years Nic payments for 1 year.

UK govt have done away with it all except the frozen bit.

Oh, thank you great, great, great..... grandpa for the American Revolution.????
