Is there an afterlife?

You can experience consciousness not just by our daily waking lives but variously including in ways described by some as astral projection aka astral travel or as an out of body experience or as any other various forms of what is referred to in the west as lucid dreaming or known as dream yoga in Tibetan Buddhism (by way of the atiyoga of the Mahayana school--Thailand mostly practices the Theravada school), also known by Native American Toltecs (made widely known by Castaneda) simply as sorcery,  or by the Vigyan Bhairav tantra of Hinduism, etc etc etc.

Of all that we have at least empirical-evidence-of-sorts. Not the usual everyone observing the same thing at the same time, but lots of individuals reporting separately the same or similar observation.

In all cases, however, the body remains intact. Outside of some religious belief, we've yet to hear direct evidence of existence outside the body from any individual or group who has returned to tell the tale after their body has decomposed.

My mom passed away almost 4 years ago. About 2 weeks after she was gone, there was a item in my house that she had given me about 20 years ago that was turned around. I noticed it right away and knew immediately that it was a sign from her and that she had visited my house. (I live alone so someone else didn't do it). I put the item back to its original position. The same thing happened about 8 times over the following 12 months.

A few weeks before her first anniversary of passing, someone asked me if I ever had a sign from her, (apparently this person is into this stuff), and he stated that sometimes they will hang around for one year. About two weeks later, the item was moved again, and this was the last time, about one year from her being gone.  I took that conversation experience of her working thru that person to let me know that she would finally be moving on. I didn't realize that at the time, except that she didn't come to my house and move the item again after that time.

True story. I have a bunch of brothers and sisters, none of them had any similar experience. I was very close to my mom and was my parents primary care taker. They were both in their 90's.

Prior to this, I wouldn't have believed in a after life and skeptical. After this, I know/believe that there has to be something happening after.

How  is  the  sleepwalking  now?

I believe the question underlying the question of life before/after death is the question of whether or not consciousness is independent of form.  The right answer to that question would automatically answer the other question.

Underlying even that question is the most basic question: what is consciousness?  In other words, who and what are we?

I believe, from observation, that there are not many people who are seriously willing to go down that endless rabbit hole.

Life is a like a game.  Learn how to play by the rules.  This was advice given to me by a dead guy.  (Howls in 3 - 2 - 1.)

It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so.

Mark Twain

I have it on good authority that in general people have only a fraction of it right.  Most of what people believe is just plain wrong.  After a great deal of observation I tend to agree.

Has anyone "played" with a Ouija board?  I did for thirteen years or so.  I can assure people of this: neither I nor my partner were moving the pointer.  Both individual's fingertips are laid ever so gently on the pointer; just enough to make contact.  There were many times that the pointer moved so fast that it left both of our fingertips.  Anyone care to attempt an explanation?

We know so little.  Again, most of what we think we know for sure just ain't so.

a very simplified explanation of life and death.

You have always existed , exist now , and will always exist, because you are a set of however improbable, posabilities.mitigated by time.

The universe is mixing and remixing to produce all possibilities, one such possibility is you.

So after your death, (the end of this set of possibilities) how long it will take for the same set of possibilities to occur again?

A very long time!!

But what is time to you? you are dead. To you a nanosecond and a yottasecond are the same. So to you the next sequence of events that will produce you, after your death would be immediate.

So the question is not if there is life after death, but is there death?

Is information the only thing that really exists ?

1. No, because consciousness requires an object, i.e., form.

2. As a conscious form, you are an aperture through which the universe is aware of itself.

Yes.

There are no real beginnings or endings to phenomena - only perpetual transformation.
