I am looking to get a reasonably priced 10" tablet to use via my home WiFi to chat to people in Thailand and in the UK and also access Facebook, Google, Youtube etc. I do not need it for playing games. Any ideas from any of the TVisa experts out there.

Don't know much. I've had an Onda OBook 11pro for a year. It works fine at what you want but I'm sure there are now better.

Whats your budget because there aren't many choice in the market. Premium Android tablets like Samsung Tab S and Huawei M5/6 starts from 10kB, Ipad Pro can go to 40k B. If you dont mind used, you can get used Tab S2/3 or Ipad Air 2 below 10k B.

 

I would avoid budget tablets with screen resolution less than FullHD because everything will look pixelated.
