I have hesitated to post my experience today as it will cause some heads to explode...you know who you are!

 

Made arrangements to sell my car through a local big name dealership.

 

Went to pickup my cashiers check and it was 5,000 baht short from what we had agreed upon.  Suddenly, no one could speak English...manager wrote down on a piece of paper: 5,000 baht Bank.

 

I remained calm as I explained as best I could that a cashier's check could not possibly cost this much and by the way...where is the receipt for the 5,000 baht bank charge...

 

They ushered me into a car...supposedly, to take me to the bank to get my receipt.  About half way back to my apartment the driver pulls up to a bank...goes to the ATM machine...takes out 5,000 baht and hands it to me when he returns to the car...

 

We both had a good laugh...no hard feelings...this is business in Thailand.

 

For you newbies, rookies and people unfamiliar with Thai culture...they will cheat you if they can...just business...lying is an acceptable form of business communication...

 

Ok, cream-puffs...take your best shot!  ????

Not representative of all dealers - just the one you dealt with.

Altho I am sure they are not the only one.

We have had people chase us down when the realized they short changed us.

So ... Silence to All Thai Bashers, wherever they may be
