Thai US permanent resident, UK visitor visa

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any experience of getting a visitor visa for the UK, for a Thai with permanent resident status in the US.

We were going to visit earlier this year when a friend was getting married, but that sorta fell through.

But another friend has invited us to visit, but I/we aren't prepared to jump through hoops, pay the money and experience some of the horror stories of Brits trying to get wives/girlfriends a visa, if it's a dicey proposition.

I've visited the UK before, I can live without visiting again if it's a 50:50 deal for my wife

Getting a UK visitor visa is not difficult as long as you can show sufficient funds and good reasons why the person will return. It will be easier for a person with US residency than it would for an ordinary Thai resident because it means they have more options in life. We've applied for a received five UK visa's, we're now on a 5 year tourist visa which is nice to have in the back pocket in case of emergencies.

Thats good to know.

We live in the US 9 out of 12 months, my wife is employed here, by the US Government as it happens.

I will just be really <deleted> off if we go through it all and waste money at the end of the day

From what you have written your wife is the least likely of anyone on the planet to be refused a UK visitor visa!
