Considering it is early part of high season there has been a up tick in tourism in and around Chiang Mai. More farangs around the old city as well as Chinese. Lets see what happens in Nov. and Dec. that is the truth in the pudding.

High Baht

Low Sterling

Low OZ $

low RMB   maybe the Trump Tariffs will bite

Thomas Cook  will have a limited effect In Goa India Air India has started to try a few charter flights from London to counter the Thomas Cook collapse

Insurance Policy Non O

Sooner or Later something has to give.

How long before the Chinese catch on a small piece of Durian sold near Thappae on a polystyrene tray for 240 when you can buy a whole one for 200.

Thai too greedy

Lets get high end tourist what do we see opening coffee shops and tattoo parlors yes many high end tourists only come to LoS for a ******* tattoo by semi skilled artist.

For those of us who like Thailand its still so easy to be critical of it they make it so easy

They forget easily the last financial Asian crash and Thailand was the most affected and if it happens again they will feel it more because each household debt is at its highest that it has ever been.

Every Meth addict crashes eventually

This sounds like the complaint of a green traveller, a westerner inexperienced in the ways of Asia or Africa. Definitely someone who should just stay in safe western family resorts. Me? I was hitch hiking across Afghanistan, Pakistan and India when I was twenty. Thailand is Heavenly Luxury and the easiest place in the world to travel in compared the rough end of the hippy trail....at least it used to be but all the spoilt,  entitled,  square tourist types are spoiling Thailand. Such bores.

like squaresville now.  all the hard core adventures types are gone now since the internet and ATM's made traveling to exotic countries a challenge.  frat house boys and sorority sisters now.

Instead of blaming currency, Thailand should pay attention to attitude of the government and locals towards tourists and other farangs. Current immigration situation does not contribute to tourism growth but the opposite. Don't be so naive. Everyone knows it and sees it, but you still blame high Thai baht.
