Hat Yai: Security guard steals tourist's car after owner dropped the key

A security guard at a hotel in Hat Yai in Thailand's far south gladly accepted an ignition key found by a hotel guest.

Instead of doing something about it he found the car and drove it away to near where he lived.

He parked it at a temple in the Klong Hoi Khong area, took off the licence plates and threw them in the canal.

Then he returned to his job at the Regency Hotel in the downtown area and told colleagues he had just been out to eat.

Lien Swe Cheng, 31, a Malaysian tourist  and his family reported the theft immediately. They were due to be going back home.

Police soon had Natthachai Meesuk, 31, in custody and he denied everything. Under interrogation at the police station he changed his story.

He said he didn't own a vehicle and he wanted one.

He had been in the job only a week, reported Manager.

The quality of pointing is in decline, there was a time when pointers put some heart into it!

A bit of trivia for you, extremely rude to point the more traditional way in Malaysia, instead they make a fist and use the thumb.

A lot less of an impact I agree!

I guess they had him by the sensitive pressure points until he gave in !

I thought it was the job of a security to protect property, not steal it. Oh well. What do I know!

...all too common attitude...

...foreigner = free meal ticket...

He was just protecting the car, so a thief wouldn't steal it.

Yeah, that's the ticket. ????

Idiot was probably busted by his own hotel security cctv.

Its also very rude in Thailand that's why its used in the police/ criminal photos. Its why go go girls wear numbers so when you choose them you dont have to point. Just tell the mama san the number.

It’s rude to point at people in Thailand, pointing at inanimate objects is perfectly acceptable.

I thought the numbers were to get around the problem of trying to identify the short dark skinned girl with black hair and fried eggs.......
