What's a turntable please?

Sorry I know I am being faceiteous, but could you explain why do you think vinyl (not vynil) sounds better than flac, and if you digitally recorded an LP into wav format, should it not sound exactly like the original source, the LP.

They are popular in many restaurants as food placed on the table can be shared by all by turning it round.....it stops folks reaching over and maybe dipping their ties in the soup/gravy.......

Are they not called a Lazy Susan?

Methinks a trip down to Bangkok and a visit to the high-end Hi-Fi specialists is in order here....you will pay a high price though for something decent as imported stuff carries a huge premium.

p.s. I have a Linn Sondec in excellent nick in my loft back in the UK.

Snap.......with Exposure Amp

OP....there is a high end HiFi shop in Pattaya...............go up Central Road 30m past the traffic lights for Big C Extra.........Piyanas...........be prepared for some eye watering prices

https://www.piyanas.com/

Edit.......Sorry just realised where you are

Piyanas is a very good dealer and has turntables from a Rega entry level at 15900 up to a high end Transrotor at  739,900 THB.

CD players start at 11 900 THB for a Marantz CD5005 and go to 799,900 THB for an Acoustic Arts player.

I went to the Pattaya branch and listened to several cd based systems and decided upon a good sounding but not expensive system consisting of a Marantz cd player CD5005 , with a Marantz intergrated amp PM5005 and a pair of Polk Audio TSx 330T floorstanding speakers.

This is pretty much entry level quality hi-fi but they were happy for me to spend an hour or so listening to my cds.

They stock speakers costing over a million baht and very high end. But also the entry level stuff which I went for .

They are are all available to be purchased online.

You can have my complete system, and spares, for a 150 quid.

Call it 6k TB.

I'm 3 hours away in Udon.

PM me if interested.

Just not used anymore.

Was all working last time i switched on, ooh, 3-4 years ago.

I'm sure you could rig a really good set up between what i have and you already have.

The turntable is very good, as is the amp.

Wharfdale speakers

JVC turntable

Goodmans tape player

Aiwa tape player

Yamaha amp

Marantz cd player

plus;

spare Pioneer speakers

Akai tape deck

Pioneer radio/amp.

It would help if we knew how much you wanted to spend. As quite a few have stated Bangkok is the place to go for the more serious stuff. I don't know where 2nd hand gear could be found but a few years ago there was a place right at the back of Pantip Plaza on the ground floor that had some interesting pre owned gear. Probably gone now.
