Inheritance dispute? Fake explosive device found under pick-up at Rayong court

Bomb disposal experts were called after a man reported seeing strange objects near the rear of his pick-up parked at the Rayong court house on Sukhumvit Road in Nern Phra sub-district.

The man had been inside the courthouse meeting with a lawyer yesterday morning in discussions about an inheritance for four siblings, two men and two women.

The area in the car park was sealed off as the EOD team arrived. Near the rear of the pick-up were four bags, a basket of clothes and hangers and a cardboard box.

Two dolls that the EOD team recognised were in the basket.

Under the pick-up they found what looked like a bomb attached to the clutch.

It was removed and smashed apart on the grass using a pressure hose.

It was not a real bomb but plasticine was made to look like plastic explosive and there were 30 batteries and an LED attachment.

It was a foot long and three inches wide.

It was clearly a fake used to threaten the owner of the pick-up.

He said he had been in the court house at 11 am and came out when he saw the bags and called the Muang district police.

A black Mercedes Benz was caught on CCTV and the bags, basket and cardboard box was left there after that.

The owner said that he had no idea when the fake explosive device might have been fitted to his car, but clearly this was by someone up to no good and was probably connected to the inheritance matter.

Investigations continue.
