Office 365 Word problem. Fix?

Installed 365, tried it for a few weeks, didn't like it much, uninstalled it, now I can't open 2003 Word files which have passwords.

Password files get messages 'Word experienced an error opening the file', even though these are old Word files which were only used with 365.

 

Can't open 365 files in Word also. 

I thought it would be compatible.

 

Anyone know how to fix this?

Nope, not compatible if you saved as .docx files. You could try LibreOffice or one of the other open-source options instead if you want something free.

I use Office 2003, and find it faster and more convenient than Office 365. 

Not sure if it is less secure, but it works for me

Check for updates for Office 2003 - maybe multiple service packs, etc.
