Thai caption: Hiding to escape being found

A 17 year old girl in Udon Thani helped police after a burglar entered her parent's home. But ultimately the thief got away by stealing a motorcycle.

The teen at the house in Nong Bua sub-district was working on a computer when she heard noises.

She fled up the stairs as a man entered the property. She hid in a bedroom on the second floor.

She called her mother who contacted the police who arrived at the scene. She threw the keys to the front gate down for them so they could easily enter the property.

But the thief - who had emptied the contents of five piggy banks - climbed over a rear wall and escaped.

He left a pick-up and some clothes out front of the property. He made his getaway on the motorcycle of a 44 woman who had stopped 500 meters away to make some purchases.

She is a drinks seller at a university in the north eastern Thai city.

CCTV showed the moment the thief had entered the two story house - and the moment the young lady fled upstairs.

Police praised her actions.

They are trying to trace the owner of the pick-up that has no plates.
