The Special One wasn’t Spurs first choice

Was seven-goal humiliation in Champions League the final straw? Maybe we'll have to wait for the book

Jose Mourinho is the new man in charge at Spurs, but it seems that the Special One was not the Tottenham first choice. The Daily Mail is reporting that the north London side had hoped to lure Leicester City boss Brendan Rogers (left) to their new stadium, but the Thai-owned Midlands outfit were having none of it. Given the Foxes start to the season compared with that of Spurs you can understand it in footballing terms.

Obviously, something has not been right at Spurs for a while now, but the decision to replace Mauricio Pochettino with Mourinho still came as a surprise. Well, to me, anyway. Doubts about his future have lingered since the start of the season amid tensions between the Argentinian and chairman Daniel Levy, and also the manager and some of his players.

Sportsmail reported last month that Spurs’ players had feared Pochettino was looking for a way out and he cut an unusually distant figure at the training ground this season. Meanwhile, he had openly aired his frustrations over the club’s transfer dealings since the summer, with clear-the-air talks with Levy in August required to ease the tensions.

They made little difference. Following Tottenham’s 3-0 thumping at Brighton, which came off the back of their humiliating 7-2 home defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League at the start of October, the picture changed.

The photo shows Jose Mourinho to the left and Mauricio Pochettino to the right!

The "(left") doesn't refer to the big picture of Mourinho and Pochettino. If you follow the link to the original story, you will see that there is another picture in the article:

So a club that seemingly suffering from relationship issues - manager/chairman/players sacks a manager whose track record actually isn't that bad overtime, purely based on recent performances and brings in one of the most controversial disruptive managers whose recent spate of failures have been mainly underpinned by his failure at relationships.

Way to go Spurs!

amazing how many "couch potatoes"  football (experts) managers one can find at TV and in the UK

the guy has an history, how many of the current active football managers have his CV ?

why everybody (including supporters) at every team he has worked on,  expects him to do miracles or immediately radical change, how did it take Pep & Jurgen to start to have results? how much money they spend to get the right players. Why didn't MU waited for him to turn things around, he picked up after Van Gaal mess, at Chelsea Conte did good using Mourinho's team, he didn't do anything new before he starts to work on his new job the negative criticism it's all over... why don't you wait and see, give him the same amount of time you give to the other ones, if my recollection it's correct, Brendan Rodgers worked for Mourinho, appears Mourinho was a very good teacher to him, he went to work at Liverpool  and was fired, he then went to Celtic in Scotland and was champion there, now doing a good job at Leicester, it appears he had a great teacher ( Mourinho) at Chelsea school

Klopp took a very average team wallowing in 8th place to a League Cup and Europa League finals when he joined the club 3 months in to the season and in to CL spot, and the following season to the UCL final for the first time in 11 years and top 4 again.

He has won 2 big cups since and has the team playing better than any other in 30 years and it's been done on net a net spend of 68M since June 2016.

Incomparable types of managers, one throws cash at names the other is a football coach.

how many CL titles does Klopp has, how many EPL titles does Klopp has? how many European League does Klopp has?  your spending amount appears a little on the low side, Virgil alone costs 75 million

FYI = During his first season in charge, Mourinho even emulated Klopp by reaching the finals of the League Cup and Europa League, yet unlike Klopp, he managed to win them

While Klopp has generally bought well, Mourinho has largely not. Both have enjoyed the luxury of splashing record-breaking levels of cash

do as I did.... search and you will find out, but as indicated one alone Virgil Van Dick cost was 75 million thus already over your claim of 68, maybe you are not good with numbers 555

So you didn't read my post, you got it wrong and you are still getting it wrong. All the information I am posting come from factual calculations. There is plenty of evidence there for you to get it right, for now a 3rd time. Try https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/startseite/verein/31

or one of the multiple articles referencing our NET SPEND since Klopp arrived.

Sorry but that doesn't work for me. If you state something as a fact then back it up with your source reference so it can be checked otherwise it's just your opinion or <deleted>.

Looks like one is speaking in gross spend and the other in net spend

You're quoting an AVERAGE ("approximately £405m on players spread out over six transfer windows (around £67.5m per window)".

Did you read the website Bob mentions (always a great source), maybe you should, which will give close to exact figures on spending, not average.
