Opposition threatens action against ten rebel MPs for alleged betrayal

The Opposition has threatened to take legal action against 10 of their MPs who were present in the House chamber last night, in defiance of the Opposition bloc’s decision to boycott the meeting. The meeting was to hold a fresh vote on a motion to set up an ad hoc panel to investigate the impacts of pre-election junta’s orders and executive orders issued under Section 44 of the interim constitution.

The motion, which was fiercely opposed by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha who, in his previous capacity, was head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), was voted down by a majority on Wednesday night.

A total of 244 MPs voted to drop the motion against five who voted in favour. 6 MPs abstained. The abstentions were House Speaker Chuan Leekpai, Deputy House Speakers Suchart Tancharoen,  Supachai Phosu, Future Forward MP for Chanthaburi Charoek Sri-on and Prachachart MPs Thanapit Kittiwongsa of Chanthaburi and Anumat Susaraw of Pattani.

Blatantly obvious, but sickening, especially with the governments so called anti corruption campaign.

The situation is so, so depressing - but utterly predictable.

Let us see if - as Thanathorn hopes - there will be a big public display out on the streets on 12 January in the sports event called 'run against the Dictator'.

Do you think there will be millions of outraged Thais, incensed over what is being done to their country, hitting the streets??

No - I don't either!

Good vs evil...brave men wanting a democratic republic to compliment a benevolent Kingdom...

Men with guns vs men with words...not a fair fight...

Wonder how long more people will take it. Soon the pressure cooker will blow

No, unfortunately - too busy with farcebook and similar time wasting applications that secretly the government love - keeps the masses occupied without any time to watch the government smoke and mirror show.

Get em while there young and fill em full of <deleted> ..if you get my drift.

Yes, there is certainly a good side of the social media, but unfortunately, only the converted will be interested - the majority will be far too busy with selfies, their lunch and dinner photos, their cats/ dogs/ hello kitty snaps and other exciting snippets of their daily lives.

Shortly after last legendary nail has been hammered into the tourist industry coffin.

Don't hold your breath.

What a lot of posters fail to realise is that a lot of Thai people actually support the government. But you won't see these people hanging around bars in Pattaya and Phuket.

One would think that a democratically elected prime minister would whole heartily agree to that motion. Guess that's not quite what happened.

But it is the only way that the government can win.

They cheated in the election, they are desperate to get rid of Thanathorn and the FFP and they only way that they know is to cheat, ignore, sue, use the courts.
