They would have a lot less dying if they provided remotely near the level of medical care they are obliged to provide under international treaties they have signed but ignore. Over the years I have ha

  • Maybe foreign prisoners should be required to buy Thai health insurance prior to being allowed into the prison system.

Well the reason they are ill in the first place is thai prisons are a hell hole and most likely get ill inside. They have a moral obligation to treat ill people regardless where they from.

So you only found one other, the Maguire seven. Inextricably linked to the Guilford 4 and overturned for the same reason. Prima facie evidence that some amongst the group were guilty of the crimes but unable to establish which members of the group were involved. Appeal returned the verdict as "unsafe" not exactly "not guilty". I think that most people who had studied these cases would agree that they were as guilty as hell, the police just did a very poor job of building a case against them.

The only real miscarriage of justice was the Birmingham 6, caused by a corrupt West Midlands serious crime squad, who fitted up a number of others not just IRA supporters.

No moral obligations in Thailand. No kindness either. Life is cheap in the land of smiles

The REAL miscarriage of justice was the Brits - and their lackeys the Orangemen - being in Ireland at all. Enslaving the people and appropriating the land.

During the Famine years Ireland was an exporter of food - just none for the people who were born and lived there

And this has what to do with innocent people being locked up for crimes they didn't commit?

All the Irish freedom fighters jailed for trying to overthrow the colonial government.

Heard of Long Kesh ?

AKA terrorists. They murdered hundreds of innocent civilians.

Incorrect . You have to have been found guilty of a crime to end up in jail.

Yes,some innocent people in Thailand end up in jail, but its the same in all countries

It's a lot easier in Thailand to lock up innocent people with no jury trials though.

Cake box to the right judge and all that.

Most are not tourist. They are foreign worker.

I don’t think so.

Back up your claims with evidence please.

Thanks in advance.

They should keep it as it is, maybe less foreigners will do the crime.

In other countries like Norway, we welcome them to serve their sentence in "hotels".  They might as well put up a "Welcome back" sign.

The Thai prison population is overly represented by women and the poorest social groups. Drugs offences figure unesseccarily highly. The barbaric medieval prison conditions are tantamount to torture.  This combined with police corruption,  military corruption at the highest level, ie coup makers put Thailand in a category of a Pariah state and a very dangerous place to visit.

This.

It is in the OP....

“Out of these 15,000 are foreigners and 9,600 of these are in for drugs offences.

Most of these are from Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.”

thailand has 3 million foreign workers from these countries.
