The Cabinet has approved a scheme to provide 4,000 free dental implants to low-income earners.

The scheme was proposed by Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, government deputy spokeswoman Ratchada Thanadirek said on Tuesday (January 2).

“The normal price of dental implant service is around Bt50,000-Bt100,000 per tooth. As a result many low-income earners are unable to afford the service,” she said.

Interested people must register with the Thailand Centre of Excellence for Life Sciences (Public Organisation) via the website http://www.tcels.or.th, she said.

“The dental implant service will be provided at 36 hospitals nationwide,” she added. “The centre also will hand out 10,000 coupons to diabetic patients for free treatment of chronic wounds at 14 hospitals nationwide through registration at the same website. Both programmes will start on January 6 and end on February 2020.”

Sounds a lot like the 1000 baht shopping initiative which excluded 10 times more people that tried to get in on the internet site that was always down or not connecting... wonder what was actually going on with that one... this govt is becoming a real joke and not a funny nor fun one...

If each person needs 10 implants then it could only reach 400 people, unlikely I know.

They generally dont do that they may  put  in  4 up and down and the rest would  be  attached to them as  false  teeth

I hope that complete assessment of  bone density, dental hygiene and nutrition are under taken and dnetal hygiene education are part of the plan.

With the poor dental care I have seen in so many, especially in rural areas, the number appears to be very small, but it is a start I guess.
