Popular Post webfact
PM to head command centre to tackle drought At their meeting on Tuesday, the cabinet is expected to approve the establishment of a command centre and associated budget to tackle drought. Government spokeswoman Mrs. Narumon Pinyosinwat said today that the centre will be headed by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and was the brainchild of the National Water Resources Committee (NWRC), in anticipation of water shortages, which are expected to be the worst for several years. The command centre will be divided into working groups, tasked with water management, water forecasting, early warning systems and public relations. Mrs. Narumon said that the Prime Minister is fully aware of the severity of the upcoming drought problem and has instructed all agencies to prepare to cope with the problem. Popular Post HuskerDo
Working groups to discuss the plans they should have already had in place. Sounds like a waste of time. 5 1
Popular Post HuskerDo
"Tasked with water management".... Really? Finally? "Tasked with water forecasting"..... They just stated they are dealing with a severe upcoming drought. Isn't that a good enough forecast? "Early warning systems".... see above. "Public relations".... really? Do they have such a thing? 1

Popular Post RJRS1301
Will this include hireing rain dancer, fortune tellers, and water diving rods? Will he enforce rules stopping illegal draining of rivers and creeks by farmers? Wondering who he will bring in to advise on this or does his former role in military make him an expert on this as well the economy and tourism? 6

Popular Post neeray
Mr Prayut, democratically elected PM, you remind me so much of another famous "world" leader who likes to take most matters into his own hands. Like the economy, you will "own" the outcome of this drought season. Good luck. 3

Popular Post spidermike007
Rain soon. I command it. Since I exert command and much power over the forces of nature, I will be able to bring ultimate and perfect conditions for the nation. I am the leader, and the smartest man in the country, so, therefore I should be leading this movement. Everything I do ends up in success, so I will bring rain. Do not doubt me. I proclaim, and therefore it is. 3

jaiyen
First action would be to ban the growing of rice. That would save a huge amount of water. Then ban Songkhran, spraying water into the air and watering the garden. Bet they come up with more ridiculous ideas !
yellowboat
He will probably start by digging holes. One to tap aquifers and one for his head, so he does not have to deal with the tide of criticism coming his way. He doesn't know it, but he will live in disgrace. 1

KhunKenAP
With the General in charge, it is a good time to buy and invest in bottled water. Thailand will need it. Other Ideas: 1) All water craft on any river must only go in reverse 2) Dump all left over water from your drinking bottles back into rivers, only 3) When it rains do not impede the follow of water to rivers. 4) Add your own silly idea for consideration by the General.
