PHUKET: Phuket’s tourism industry is reeling from travel bans in place in the hope of containing the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus.

The total number of international tourist arrivals landing at Phuket International airport on Wednesday alone (Jan 29), plunged by 32.95% compared with Jan 29 last year, reports the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Intelligence Centre.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but Chinese New Year is at  a different time to 2019, so what sense can you possible make of that table?

Oxymoron Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Intelligence Centre.

And arrivals was up almost 51 percent on 23rd January 2020 compared to same date in 2019...:whistling:

21st to 30th January 2019: 184,186

21st to 30th January 2020: 180,603

Difference -3,583 that equals 1.95 percent down – hard to see a major problem during that dates...????

Probably we'll see something from TAT tomorrow that tourism went through the roof in Phuket.

Is smog really that  bad?  That's about how I would say the scuba diving compares to a good Caribbean location 2 years  ago.

I think tourism is in terminal condition after it caught the virus. ICU won't help. RIP.
