Am I missing something?

if he was 70kg, he was doing more than 50km/h when he hit the ground to basically a sudden stop. That is going to hurt and there will probably be internal damage and at least concussion. I doubt he got up to do anything of any significance after the fall.

He wasnt simply injured, he attempted a suicide, or at the very least self harm.

He should have been taken to hospital voluntarily or not.

In many parts of Australia if the Paramedics believe it is life threatening, then the Police will hand cuff you and allow you to be escorted with them in the ambulance.

What is it with people jumping of balconys in Thailand. Or pushed.

I can honestly say ive never known any other country like it.

I lived in some flats in Perth that were called "Suicide Heights".Not all that uncommon around the world,I think we just hear about it more often here on TV.They used to show the Thais jumping from buildings occasionally some time ago.

His weight not relevant.

It is for the impact force at the sudden stop. And that is what causes the 'ouch'. Just doesn't the speed at impact from that height. But now I see where you were coming from with your cryptic-ness.

Not only old ones but also many younger farangs come here and burn all their bridges back home, or never really had much to burn in the first place.

Then eventually a job ends unexpectedly, they keep being hopeful and use up all their saving money, to realise they are really broke and would even end up homeless when returning to their home countries. Being in that situation makes one think even less clear too, can make things worse and worse.

Having been in a similar situation years ago, I can testify it is tempting to just get drunk and jump from the highest building at some hotel or condo.
I was not suicidal before that happened at all but desperate times often bring desperate measures,
I am happy I got over it and will never allow myself to get in a position like that again.

Why is there always a Thai girl hanging around in the condo-highrise-balcony-jump saga ?

RIP nevertheless. ????

Are you suggesting he was just left to die by police?

Why do so many foreigners jump off their balcony because of an argument with their Thai girlfriend?

He had 50 years left to live, still he decides to end it, the human brain is a big mystery.

He was German , could always return home and live on welfare and sort out his mental problems.

I am sure there was more to it than money. These girls can easily drive you to despair. Particularly a heartless bar girl and the poor guy was unlucky enough to fall in love with her. The lies and games, the whole lot of it. Many of us been there. I still get shivers thinking about my experience.
