The closest station would be victory Monument. Closest to my work.

Get a place nearby then. There are apartments around Soi Rangnam.

Ratchatewi is nice and central too and not far from victory. I lived there before. It is great as you can walk into Siam and Chula area. Cocowalk and the thai food places around phetchaburi are great, and you also have easy access to the water boat at hua chang to travel fast.

you could also go further up around Ari. Ari is a really nice neighbourhood.

If you're planning to work in the Victory Monument area, there's zero reason to be looking at housing along the river, or Phrakanong or OnNut. There are lots of reasonably priced apartments and condos within walking distance of VM, and there's plenty of life stuff in the area (shopping, eating, medical, etc) to cover one's needs.
