Kuwait is EVACUATING its citizens from Thailand due to coronavirus

The government and news Outlets are strangely quiet about these kinds of evacuations and flight bans.

As I quoted in an earlier post I don’t recall anyone returning to there home country from Thailand and being diagnosed with Coronavirus.

Stick to releasing software that's vulnerable to viruses and needs endless updates, and leave real virus issues to people who have relevant experience.

a little naive. It's not the 3% death rate that's causing the panic, it's the 10% of serious cases that develop into pneumonia and require specialist care, it's the 10% that will overwhelm any countries care facilities especially when you consider that they also require isolating. Go down your local hospital and count how many ventilators they have. Just order more you may say.....

I tried to order some sandpaper for a detail sander yesterday. Guess what, they dont have any because it's made you know where. Extrapalate that out .... unfortunately it's not BS it's actually happening.

Well I know one thing The australian government will not be doing the same as kuwait Because all they think about is there budget and to get it into surpless Just look what they did with that ship off Japan NOTHING and it had lots of aussie tourists on board

My intention was not to scare people, but was to point out why it was legitimate to be concerned.

This is current estimated flu cases in US, and the report says it is probably an under-estimate.  Covid-19 with 53 cases in US isn't even in the Northern National League Ladies Division compared to the Premier League viruses.

The US report says up to 45 million cases and 46,000 deaths since October 2019 from flu, and that's the lowest in many years, compared to 53 cases of Covid-19.

They probably followed the British FCO model  A lot of people erroneously believe that Embassies and Embassy staff are there to help them in times of need. This is not the case with the British model where they are purely there to promote business interests. Their entire target system is based around promoting and selling business and if they miss their targets their staff are cut. They are therefore woefully unprepared to deal with issues like the quaranteened ship and can only react slowly rather than be proactive. Welcome to the year of the fruit bat, as Terry Pratchett would say ????

The infection/fatality rate for Covid-19 is at least 10 times that of common flu. Wait until this is all over, see how many die and tell me that it's no worse than a common cold. Its only just starting.

Your sandpaper was unavailable due to panic reactions by governments who are looking after their backsides.

 

Fatality and serious cases rates are nowhere near as high as the reports due to the massive number of unknown or unreported cases - many people will have symptoms so mild they won't even visit a doctor.

 

But serious and fatal cases will be investigated properly.

 

Best estimates have put actual case fatality rate at 0.2%, which not surprisingly is similar to flu.   

 

Yes, you are right, hospitals will get over-loaded, just as they do most years during the flu epidemic.  And the scare tactics by media outlets trying to drive flagging sales will be the cause.

You are wrong.  CFR is around 0.2%  Early reports are always too high for generally mild diseases.

I was evacuated by the Aussie Gvt out of Cambodia once when things got a bit hairy and got myself a free ride on a Hercules plane as a consequence.

I'm neither an Aussie or a Commonwealth passport holder or had even asked them for it. 

Yet, there they were to help. And when I landed on safe grounds, free hot milo and smiles mate. 

It was awhile ago, but still. Bloody Legends.

After we've created a global recession over a bad cold, there will be a major review into how we all scared ourselves by reading data we do not understand. 

 

Actual fatality rate is close to seasonal flu, and nowhere near as high as Bird Flu.  It's that data is being distorted because it's just not that serious, so we have many unreported cases.

 

The world is a big place, people die all the time.

 

And the current panic resulted in the unwise and unwarranted quarantine of the Diamond Princess.  I think we'll see a major class action about that case.

If there is a global recession, it won't be caused by people panicking. It will be caused by a number of governments trying to put a lid on its spread before it gets out of control.

 

The mortality rate is at least 10 times higher than seasonal flu. Get your facts right.
