One wonders just what the diagnostic criteria are for COVID-19 infection and what differential diagnoses, if any, are made.

In this case is does not seem possible that if the patient had the virus established in a test in a proper lab, that the virus did not contribute to his heath. If he was virus free then that is another story.

In the former case the doctor makes the decision as to the relative contribution of the co-morbidities. I am sure there is a huge pressure on the doctor in these case to blame the co-morbidity and no the virus.

I wonder just how many previously fit, well & with no significant past medical history people, have actually died as a direct result of contracting C19?

Zero. The media is trying to panic people.

That's not true. MOST of the people who die from CV are elderly and have other earlier problems of heart, lungs or whatever (eg diabetes). But SOME are younger and healthy before they catch CV & die (eg the Chinese doctor whistleblower who died was in his early 30s & apparently healthy [well, at least until the nice Chinese security people got their hands on him]).

As with most things in life, your genes have quite a lot to do with the outcomes.

People are letting the media scare them. I'm more worried about getting  the flu.

We don't know the health status of the deceased prior to getting it though.

Not many that didn't have prolonged and continuous exposure, i.e.health workers and medics.

I have a wart on my right foot. If I catch the CV and then die, I take it the wart will be held responsible?

I guess my b/f could sue it too!

Yeah, because warts are HPV. You probably have a depleted immune system.

Probably the flu.

So far, the new coronavirus has led to more than 100,000 illnesses and more than 3,000 deaths worldwide. But that's nothing compared with the flu, also called influenza. In the U.S. alone, the flu has caused an estimated 34 million illnesses, 350,000 hospitalizations and 20,000 deaths this season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

I spoke with my wife last night in Isan she said 40 people have COVID-19 and a doctor has died from it while the Thai government is reporting 50 and 1 death.

My niece said a week ago there were 7 infected in the same area.

In Italy the number of cases doubled in 24 hours.

Iran 49 people died in 1 day.

UAE banned its citizens from entering Thailand.

Kuwait wants its citizens all out of Thailand.

Israel doesn't want Thai citizens.

Thailand is most likely worse than South Korea by now since the Lies are endless by the Dictator and the rest, trying to protect their own ASSets from the mob yet to come.

Why do people always use the US as a comparison, because there is more transparency in reporting?

Why not use countries like China or Russia where the level of healthcare is abysmal.  Since China has >4x the population, a simple extrapolation would suggest they have greater than 80,000+ deaths each flu season.  That's a bigger and scarier number!
