EEC tells Pattaya to upgrade trash, sewage systems

PATTAYA:--The commission overseeing the government’s Eastern Economic Corridor plan urged Pattaya to upgrade its garbage and sewage processing systems in order to boost tourism in the East.

EEC Secretary Knit Sangsuwan, commission members and advisors met with Pattaya Mayor Sonthaya Kunplome and his top deputies at city hall March 11. On the agenda was the Covid-19 coronavirus, planned tourism projects and infrastructure.

The panel optimistically claimed that the worldwide coronavirus pandemic would ease and things back to normal in April. Therefore, they said, cities in the EEC area should organize “big cleaning days”.

The commission also requested Pattaya submit a new list of essential tourism-related projects to develop the industry.

Is that April 2021 or 22 .. In their dreams it'll be back by this April .. This is only just starting .. Countries are in lockdown , airlines are cancelling flights left , right and centre and if you can get a flight restrictions on entry to somewhere that'll let you in are requiring certification ( that have 48 hr validity only ) that you are not infected and you try and get an appt with a doc' for a non absolutely essential complaint right now .. No chance .. and on and on it goes .. It is the embodiment of supreme optimism to think everything will be hunky dory in a couple of weeks for Patt's ..

Well, if that just doesn't call for a marching band competition, what does?

Just another excuse for another committee to have a free lunch without achieving anything.  The official Government spokesperson, (not known for pessimism) Dr Tanarak said, yesterday. 'Thais will have to live with the virus for two years before the situation improves.'

The fact of the matter is - there will be virtually no tourists this year.

That makes it the perfect time to do this work.

1. You're employing people in a tourist zone where a lot of people will be underemployed.

2. No matter how much sewage you release into the sea, it won't affect tourism this year.

oh if Pattaya beach was clean and swimmable and the lovely Thai ladies and all the fun night life were there too.
