If its all about isolation of sorts its madness to let them all go back to their Villages there will definitely be a spike in cases and unfortunately the Older family members back home will suffer I would say the entertainment staff already contracted the virus and recovered a kind of 'herd immunity' if you will and then it died down.My thoughts anyhow!

There is no herd immunity. This was a false concept that has grown legs. It has been  disproven. One can become infected again.

There's surely no way it will only last 2 weeks? Also most girls will go back to Isaan now right? Pattaya will be dead for next 6 months - 1 year and many businesses will collapse completely with no entertainment or Chinese money coming in!

Saifon Khananyiam who represents dozens of bars in the red light area of Soi 6

Sorry did you say Red Light area? I was told by the powers that be, there was no such thing in Thailand. And just as well, can you imagine how fast this thing would spread if just 1 girl had the virus.....

Beer bars are if anything more dangerous than regular bars due to the tactile nature of the girls working in them..........and the often just as tactile nature of the client!

Erm, you do realise that the girls are on the inside and the customers are on the outside of the bar, I'm sure. So long as one does not get a take away there is no "tactile" contact.

Perhaps some enterprising person could develop a full body condom that allows a hotel room liaison without any skin to skin contact!

Re the lack of customers in Pattaya bar beers, if the girls stopped paying so much attention to their phones and more to prospective clients, they might get a few more customers.

It's too bad but the careless who insist on going to the bars and risking infection are not only endangering themselves but those of us who are staying away and might sit next to them on the Baht bus or stand in line next to them at the grocery store or 7-11.

WHAT!!!!!!!!

Guys go to Pattaya to associate with bar girls. Anyone that can't grasp that simple fact should either leave Pattaya and never return, or wear a hazmat suit every time they leave the safety of their fully pressurized and air filtered room.

I agree , i know , they are bleeding cash fast , nobody thinks otherwise . Its a very hard time , but keep people separate at all cost , if every human would do it , this thing would be gone in 2 max 3 weeks ( incubation time ) . I know it isnt possible , but lets make the time we are in it as short as possible , and this means avoid contact , bars and restaurants closed . Nobody in the world want this , but its here , react to it , and bar closing is 1 of the big contributors of human contact , and that is the 1 we want to avoid right now .

Everybody wants to get back to normal life , but this isnt happening right now , so lets make sure we get there as fast as possible . The virus does not make a difference in skincolor , religion , or anything else .

Below link shows that Millenials around the world kept partying at bars in NYC, Berlin  ect and police were called to forcebly close them. They figured the virus doesn't affect them that badly so why should they have to suffer.

Gonerea clinics every where as Pattaya is riddled with it. It allso is a killer but few people care about spreading a dose of the green cream coming out your personal cavitys. It's God's way of cleaning the planet up. So avoid sex in Pattaya and don't go green.

I hsve some empathy, it's gonna be tough for everyone. At the end of the day eating animals that aren't meant to be be eaten is probably a bad idea.

* Yes, and it applies to all of us for what on earth are actually meant to be eaten by humans?

Says who?  Life on earth wouldn't have got to this stage if some animals weren't meant to have been eaten!

True enough! if animals were exempt from being eaten somebody forgot to tell the animals the rules!

Exactly, so she needs to keep crying because money is all she knows herself.  It is not about staff, its about greed over health.  Open air bar. tables and floor coughed on, spittle still transmitted through the air from a cough, <deleted> is she thinking, oh she is not....

You have to remember Saifon is only the representative (because she is Thai) of this Group. She is actually just a Head cashier and only being told what to say by her superiors, but the plea is definitely made for monetary gain, with a disregard to safety and health standards for the customers of these establishments.

Customers should be aware that this virus can transmitted in any type of bar, not just a closed environment.

The government closure of places in Pattaya and Bangkok (probably others to follow) is the correct plan of action, and hopefully only temporary, so we can all get back to having a good time.

Good, fair post, sure her "plea" was made for monetary gain, everybody seems to have conveniently forgotten that in this is the "New World" we "were"? living in, driven by money and status, this "plea" was perfectly acceptable just a few days ago. Maybe we should ALL be rethinking what our goals in life are if money, status and the pursuit off same are not going to suffice. ????

The new spokesperson for the Nightwish group of bars, whose business plan is to accumulate two dozen leases in the same street, many next to each other, and then complain that they will be badly effected by a shutdown. No diversification,no spread of assets.

Thats what happens when all the eggs are in one basket.

The real boss of Nightwish said in a Stickman interview last week "It will be interesting to see how this effects Pattaya, but I feel our bar businesses are pretty resilient to economic problems."

"Anytime sales are low in Pattaya people always find something to blame such as visa issues, the police, currency exchange rates etc. Now they will blame the virus! The true comparison is to compare last year’s figures – but as we improve our businesses year after year, that data will show an increase anyway!"

O dear.
