Just as the Covid-19 virus is spreading quickly all over the world, there is now a new word that has sprouted to describe people who blatantly ignore public health measures.

Covidiots

Now what kinds of specific activities qualify for that label can be subjective. For example to many people not wearing masks everywhere is a covidiot thing.

But in most cases it's not so subjective.

For example these now infamous spring breakers in Florida:

Last night sneaking out for some night shopping I noticed an outdoor table of older Europeans crammed close together. It was a table designed for four. They were eight. They were drunk. They were partying. Covidiots, yes?

So this topic is for sharing Covidiot sights that you are seeing all over Thailand.

#Covidiot trends after netizens use hashtag to flag people flouting COVID-19 lockdown rules

Now, responsible netizens have taken it upon themselves to flag cases of people breaking coronavirus lockdown rules. They are doing so by using the hashtag #Covidiot on Twitter.

I did indeed.

As far as baht buses, yes they are too packed, but people sometimes need public transportation.

So I think there is a difference between being in unsafe situations like that (being crammed into an immigration office is another example) that are hard to avoid and more optional choices where you do have more choice to distance or not.

Of course it's quite possible that later on Thailand will be shutting down public transportation and enforcing a complete lock down, at least in parts of the country. But we're not there yet. Whether we should be there yet is a policy question.

Lots of people in China where incredibly draconian tactics were used for a long period of time and ended up being quite effective probably think the rest of the world not doing the same is in denial and crazy.

Now, this is one of the best topics one could choose today. It is very creative, inspirational and out of the box. Come on folks, lets start the bash!

(Please, ensure to ignore the Covidiots in other classy countries. They may be referred to as Coviteligensia, to keep up the 'class')

Edit

At a time when people around the world are coming together setting aside their conventional differences to battle the Covid-19 pandemic, new communities are springing up at the same time, also triggered by the virus. These are not dependent on ethnicities or political leanings, social status or nationalities; they based on responses by different people to the most serious worldwide public health crisis in recent memory.

So why should it just be confined to Thailand, then (unless this thread is purely intended for Thai-bashing purposes)? Little can beat the mass outbreak of covidiocy which took place back in my home country this past weekend IMHO:

I think the Covidiocy in Thailand is a big enough topic. That's why. Also this is a Thai expat forum. No the intention isn't Thai bashing. Did you fail to notice that the Covidiot sighting that inspired this thread was of Europeans?
