Driver's License - change 2 year to 5 year - DLT closed?

Featured Replies

I have heard DLT is closed (Bangkok).  What to do to extend DL?  A Thai friend says they will extend during this period automatically.  Does anyone know if this true?  And for foreigners also?  Thanks.

I wouldn't go by that advice given. We haven't heard anything official from the land transport office regarding this situation so if was you I would be very cautious. Don't drive, get someone else too and wait till you hear anything substantial.

Maybe this helps.

Amnesty until 15 days after end of emergency decree is lifted (might help for years :whistling:).

All offices closed:

And the wording there is a bit more cautious.

"... until there is any other announcement".

I would carry on as usual until THEY can give you another license. I would call my insurance broker and tell them the situation and my cover...

Went passed my local DLT yesterday and they had a sign on their gate saying that all departments were closed. As other have said the Transport office will not renew any out of date licences till the so called lockdown is over, and your old one will be ok/extended till then. Could be months yet Buddha only knows.
