Cant Believe Its Been 6 Months!

Featured Replies

Was talking to a mate tonight and just realised in 2 days it will be 6 months since we left Thailand. On Friday the 13th. Which is ######ing mad, since we left Thailand on Friday the 13th October. Just cant belive how fast that has gone and how things have worked out for us. The wife was the worry.Being Thai and never lived in another country. No worries there. She is loving it and doesnt want to return to LOS to live. So alls going well. Touches wood. Heres to many more years in Oz. :o Next year we will be in LOS for a holiday. But thats over a year away. Cheers.

That's great news Jockstar. Boy, it has gone quickly and glad you Mrs has settled in well.

All the best for the future to you both.

Can't help feeling a tad envious, whilst we're stuck in the UK :o

Congrats Jocks! interesting to hear the wife's immediately seemingly taken to living abroad. can you elaorate at all as to why you think that is?

Wives (generally, not just thai, my Ma, and bro's wife, both europeans) often have a harder time adapting. That's why I ask.

Time does fly, or tempus fugit ... or to quote another great person.

"Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana"

If you discount the three weeks I spent in the UK tying up loose ends, I've been a resident here for two and a half years..... it hasn't all been good, I didn't expect it to be, but it only feels like I got here less than seven days ago.

I have learned so much more since being a resident here than I could ever hope to do just being a frequent visitor. Put down some roots for a while (but never decide that it is permanent) enjoy life, enjoy 'the now' .... it can pass all too quickly .... you can learn a lot in a week :o

I'm glad it's all going tickety boo for you and Mrs Jockstar.

I wish tempus would bloody fugit for me.

1 month down and 5 more to go before I get back to Thailand.

"Tickety boo" 5555 Thank you, Robski; now there's a phrase from my childhood.

Yes, Jockstar, all the best to you and your wife. I've been back in Canada and the States for a year now and I cannot fit in. You can take the Gorgon out of the jungle but you cannot take the jungle out of the Gorgon. Sigh.

im with you jet,

give me the jungle anyday as living in the real world is down right unstimulating after the madness and chaos of the mighty los.

knowing whats going to happen everyday just dont do it for me, and i miss the street life as i find it brilliant to wander amougnst the thais cooking, selling, laughing and doing there business.

jocks wife might love sydney now as its all new and shiny to her, and thats understandable as sydney is a cracking city.

ive also been to vancover and thats a wonderful city but all to sterile for my liking.

give me thailand anyday. :o

see you in the jungle jet and its my buy for a nice bottle of red. :D

I think maybe because things worked out so well for us Kayo. The wife got offered a job the 2nd day we were here. So need to go around looking and getting knockbacks etc. I had a job within a week. We found a place to stay after a week here. We were earning straight away and a place to stay. As you know these are the 2 most important things when going to a new country to live. She has now given up that job as she hated it. But it was a stepping stone and confidence builder to look for another job. She scored a better job paying more money and in a different sector. She also had the scope to earn more by working OT. Thais see the dollar/baht/pound etc and go for it. She has a met a couple of people. I have some good friends here who are also friends of hers. So i guess with the backing of her family its also been easier. She is close to the family. But when we lived in LOS we lived in Bangkok and they live in Chiang Mai. So we only seen them a few times a year. With the use of Skype she can talk to them whenever she wishes. Her Dad and Mum miss her. But her dad has told her dont rush back for us. Live your life we are ok. We will be over there next year to visit everyone. Also she doesnt have the family asking for money like some. We love it here. Yes its expensive but then so is London and most Western big cities. But we are good and happy.

@ Terry. You are right Sydney is a great city and i suppose its new for her. But as you said, you would rather live in Thailand. But thats because you have maybe only lived in Oz and never lived somewhere else. Same for the wife. Something new. A city is what you make it. Also you never really get the whole experience of a country/city unless you actually live there. Going as a tourist is just not the same.

Nice one Jock,

Me and the missus have been getting itchy feet recently, but my biggest concern is how she'd fare in the Western rule employment-wise. Your post is very reassuring.

Cheers to yourselves for another 6 months :o

Glad to hear things have worked out so well over there for yourself and p'Elle, mate. :o
