You should have got your monthly SSA payment on 2 July whether going to a US bank or Bangkok Bank as 3 July is the observed 4 July holiday in the US....due to 3 July being the observed holiday the SSA payment will be sent/coded to deposit on 2 July vs the normal 3rd day of the month for those folks with foreign addresses onfile with the SSA.

He didn't do the filing until the 17th. He should have a notice on the get my payment site now about when it will be deposited.

Yes...I was only talking his monthly SSA payment; not his stimulus payment yet to come....but hopefully coming soon.

Encouraging words, but, as of July 2nd, 5:51pm Thai time ... no have. I assumed it would not arrive in my Bkk bank account today, but, hypothesized that if it was actually sent on the 2nd. USA time, might show up here on the 3rd.

Thanks again, for all your helpful posts !

I have had one come in as late as about 7:30 pm (sms notice) and a few others that were too late to go to a small bank branch to move it.

Received mine in my Bangkok Bank account at 2:52pm! It is a problem with the lazy employees not putting it in your account after they receive it! I filed a complaint and now I now get it deposited every month at about 10:30am! One time I went to the bank and they called them and it was deposited in my account in less than 15 minutes! File a complaint, it worked for me! No more waiting til after 4pm sometimes as late as 7pm. I think these employees are playing with their cell phones and not doing their job when they are at work!

get my payment still says:

We scheduled your check to be mailed on May 15, 2020 to the address we have on file for you.

We will mail you a letter with additional information on this payment.

refund status:  Your tax return is still being processed.

Your tax dollars at work. Funny you should mention "your tax return is still being processed". I saw that very message when I checked in on Turbo Tax 4-5 weeks after I did our taxes this year. I figured I better let the wifey know. She told me we had received our refund two weeks earlier! I suspect in the end, they have no clue where anyone's payments or returns are.

i don't fault 'em for that.  they've got a massive database running on old spaghetti-loop patchwork cobol programs.  i'm not expecting a refund, since i haven't had to pay (only file) since nought-five.  the refund database likely won't have records if no refund is forthcoming.  it's a shame they don't have a modern database with all returns updated and accessible.  i had been checking that since the 2018 returns had been modified such that complete foreign addresses were not on file, and they announced they'd be using addresses from 2019, or 2018 if 2019 not filed or processed.  the address used was on my 2017 and 2019 returns.

did you get a check or direct deposit?  makes sense you'd get DD before the letter, and makes sense i'll prolly get the check (debit card?) shortly.  checks and notification letters would be running on two separate systems/programs using the same database.  i'd expect the notification letter first, but really, why bother.  just send the dang check!  why double the expenses?

The notification must go out within 15 days of payment issue because "Congress" made it a requirement in the CARES Act.  If Congress hadn't done that I expect IRS would not be sending any letter from Donald...instead, they just send the payment and tell you to look at their Get My Payment website for status.

After a venture in futility last night trying to contact the IRS I gave up. I just now after being transferred 4 times and a 1 hour wait on hold got to talk to a real person. The person was a young man who was polite and helpful. After the secret handshake he was able to access the details. He confirmed that the system leaves a lot to be desired as the system is BROKEN DICK. He said he was putting a trace on the check and then a new (debit card) would be mailed to me at my address in Thailand. This process could take another 6 weeks. The phone number he said to call the IRS on for the stimulus check is +12679411000 He told me not to use the 1800 number. He also gave me his ID number. The IRS has to mail this debit card to my Thai address and can not mail it to a US address. There is a chance that the IRS may transfer the funds over to SSA as they have my banking detail for DD this is to start July 24. That being said next year on the 2020 forums they will be a place to put your banking details for DD.

Not in a thousand years..the IRS is not going to provide your stimulus payment money to the SSA for the SSA to then send to you.  Additionally, the IRS got/can get your banking details from the SSA....they did that for millions and millions of people....and then the IRS sends the payment.   But when the IRS gets banking info from the SSA/VA/etc., the IRS then also determines if your are eligible of the stimulus/tax laws....how much you should receive...and then then the IRS sends your payment.

The IRS is not going to throw in another step of after getting your banking details from the SSA then turn around and send your stimulus payment to the SSA for the SSA to then send you.

AND I would seriously, seriously, seriously doubt the SSA would want to get involved in stimulus payments (wouldn't want to touch that with a ten foot pole) other than providing a database dump to IRS of banking details as the SSA don't have enough manpower now to handle their current duties, don't want to get involved in thousands of emails/mails/phone calls where SSA recipients would surely start calling the SSA for stimulus payment problems, etc.

Nope, not in a thousand years.

Nope, not in a thousand years.

Why with the negative attitude. Direct quote form you by the IRS on post # 1287.

From the SSA website as of 25 June.

https://www.ssa.gov/coronavirus/

  Quote

If I live outside the United States and not in a U.S. Territory, how and when will I get my economic impact payment (EIP)?

Social Security beneficiaries with a foreign address whose monthly benefit is deposited in a foreign bank will receive their EIP by paper check in the mail, because the IRS does not deposit money into foreign accounts. The IRS anticipates it will start mailing these EIPs no later than July 24. Beneficiaries living abroad who receive their monthly benefit through a domestic bank should receive their EIP by direct deposit to that same account on or about July 24.

Link to comment

The quote does "not" say SSA will be making the EIP payments; the IRS will.  The quote says the "IRS" will start making the EIP payments o/a 24 July.

The SSA is just providing some EIP info/crossfeed on the SSA website; the SSA is not saying "they" are making the EIP payments as the IRS does that.

Sorry to hear of all your troubles. When I call on Monday, is there any particular number or numbers I should press to get a live person? Curious, did he confirm the first stimulus payment sent was a check or was it a debit card? Thanks again for your help and time.

May 1 was a check any others will be debt card. The above info is correct. They are open 7am to 10pm ECT. You may need to try a few time but stay with it. +12679411000

After many mistakes with the non filers site I was able to update my info and add my usa bank account info and my daughters info and get it accepted in mid june, got my direct deposit into that bank on July 1, for the both of us.  thanks to all the positive vibes by Joe and others that encouraged the use of the non filers site.

This just shows you how screwed up this whole process and system is.

I just got off the phone with the IRS and believe it or not, I only had to wait 4 minutes for a live person.

My check was scheduled to be mailed on May 1st. The agent said my check was actually mailed out on May 11th and it was a check.

She told me my replacement would also be a check and not a debit card and I could not give direct deposit info to change.

She said it would take 6 weeks, but I should call back in 3 weeks to make sure the process was started or where it stands.

When will the madness end. I bet you, with my luck, I will get the "lost" check this week.

Madness it is.  And find out it would bounce when cashing because it was cancelled as part of the issue of the replacement check somewhere in the mail system.  And the bank would charge a bounce/reject fee.  What a mess.   Hope you get your check soon.

I went back a couple of pages but haven't found an answer to this question.

Has anybody with the payment status "We scheduled your check to be mailed on May 15, 2020 to the address we have on file for you. ..." received a check in Thailand? Thanks.

Whoop-de-do: GetMyPayment informs me the stimulu$ will be deposited in the same Bkk bank account used for SSA payments on July 09. Note: in Thailand several years, no dependents, non-filer until this thread prompted me to use the non-filer facility on May 17.

I deeply appreciate the help, and support, received on this thread !

The bank I cashed mine at (had to wait 45 days to use it) asked me about the name on the bottom of the check..I had to give them a refresher or fact of the day..

Good to hear.   Little surprised the direct deposit is for 9 July/a Thursday since IRS usually issues direct deposits for a Wednesday (that's the day its suppose to post to your acct) which would be like 8 July, 15 July, etc.   But hey, for stimulus payments which is not a normal thing I expect the direct deposit could be for most any business day.

Also, you said in your 29 June post that you used the non-filers tool on "June" 17 vs the May 17 you mentioned directly above....I expect you really meant June 17.   If so, once again use of the Non-filers tool is resulting in processing time of around 21 days which is the IRS's stated goal to process efiled returns in 21 days for 90% of efilers assuming the return does not have any problems.

Question for you - Did you have to go through the "lost check" process before the check will be reissued?  I'm wondering because I got the same info when I got my check reissued, minus the part about calling back in 3 weeks to check on the process.  I didn't have to do the "lost check" process as the IRS had my first check returned back to them, so I'm wondering if the part about calling back is just for those going through this process.

Yeah, screwed up to put it mildly.  Is the IRS just trolling us at this point?????

Yes, I have to go thru the lost check process. I have no faith or confidence that that the process has started or will take 6 weeks or less or that I receive my new check. Just totally frustrated with the whole thing, but nothing else I can do.

You are soon to get Stimulus payment #1 on 9 July....and should now be all setup to automatically receive Stimulus payment #2 as the IRS now has your info like DD info since you filed the Non-filers simple/EIP return.  Once the House, Senate, and Donald come to agreement on another stimulus package/law which should occur by around mid August I expect it will include another stimulus payment to most everyone.

With so many people financially impacted by COVID and it being an election year, IMO our elected officials will compromise on one more stimulus package which will include include another payment to most everyone.  How much...who really knows since all kinds of amounts have been floated by the politicians.  But my bet is on another $1,200 per adult as the core payment since the House approved that in their HEROS Act they passed over a month ago that the Senate has not acted on (yet).

Time will tell.
