Merchant sets fire to fish baskets after being denied Bt5,000 handout

A merchant burnt all his fish baskets after the www.เราไม่ทิ้งกัน.com website refused to give him Bt5,000 under a government handout scheme due to a technical error.

Another victim of the system, which uses artificial intelligence to evaluate registrants, posted a video on his Facebook account King Pho Dam of him burning his fish baskets.

The government website stated that he did not get the money because he said he was a farmer, when in fact he worked as a fish merchant.

The man urged others facing the same problem to protest as he did, even though the government has said that people who were rejected could still appeal to receive the money.

The merchant also demanded that officials responsible should correct their "errors" and see for themselves the effect these had on rejected registrants.

    that'l teach the government a lesson !

  • Very sad. Many people need this money and they need it yesterday. I hope the government don’t think the mere offer of 5k will buy them some time. It’s not a couple of million of people who need this m

Software manufactured by those who built the TM-30 and 90 day reporting systems.  I can feel the mans frustrations, but no need to burn your own commerce.....

' We won't desert each other ' .......................... ( applies to army and high so only apparently )

This government is just all talk and no trousers.

Long on wind , short on wonga.

Didn't we all see this coming you can't just help a small part of the population and leave the rest to starve.
The minimum they should be doing is handing out food they must have stockpiles of rice.
Oh wait I see rice price is high now.

The only opinion I can get from my wife about this administration and Little Too is just that all talk and no action.

Correction:

The system uses Artificial Stupidity to evaluate the applications.

I know 3 people who worked in a salon who's applications were refused on the basis that they were 'Farmers'.

A fourth person who completed the on-line form in the same way received the payment.

Sounds like a money saving process to me - fail applicants for random reasons.

I told the neighbors to heed your call. Unfortunately they don't have nearly enough fish baskets at the moment to make an effective statement. Will burning some old clothes and other trash in the backyard do? They say they have lots of experience doing that, having practiced for years on end for this very moment.

What good did that do , when /if things get better he will of wished he hadn't put all his fish in one basket.

If he survived that long plus I think the market for secondhand fish baskets maybe a bit depressed at the moment.Wonder if he tried Stevens100's porn trick!

So this is an irresponsible technical error, fix the error asap to hand out the funds.

Going to see pitchforks on the streets soon if the government doesn't open up their trough to the general public.

What trough? Wasn't the reason the gov got the electric company involved to because they didn't have any money in their trough?

The one that feeds the army. In BKK post earlier one general was pondering which army projects should be iced to get cash for fighting corona. I doubt any have.

They better give it to all and than ask people who don't really need it to return it to the government. ????

Na just give it to those who lost their way to earn a living not those who are still on a 100% salary.

A merchant selling clothes at the market was rejected.
Reason: you are a student

She is 36 years old with 2 kids.

Merchant next door selling similar things was accepted.

Yes, they use AI, because real intelligence is not available here.

I feel for the poor guy as he has to feed his family or whatever and 5,000 baht means alot, however yes , I agree with your comment .... he has achieved nothing as now he does not have the tools to make any income at all.
