Coronavirus lockdowns may trigger the next Tea Party-style movement.

On Wednesday, there was a protest in Michigan against Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s stay-at-home order. It had a spiffy name—“Operation: Gridlock”—and it had a spiffy display of, among other banners, the Confederate battle flag. The protest represented tens of actual voters whom Whitmer undoubtedly has lost. But what that protest represents is not half as funny as this bunch of angry shut-ins made it look on Wednesday. The acting director of the Office of National Intelligence is encouraging citizens to break local laws, endangering themselves and others, in the middle of a pandemic. Of all the screwy moments that we have experienced since the founding of Camp Runamuck, this is going to rank very close to the top. And it is not going to be a surprise to anyone if another AstroTurf movement similar to the Tea Party rises, especially if the president* “opens up” the country at the beginning of May.

I think a-lot of people can not just sit in their homes until this all passes, and the overzealous governor of that state is a little tyrant, like most Democrats.

Wow. Total morons! Deplorables on parade. Did y'all notice that a lot of them appeared to be in the high risk groups of dying from Covid? If they want to off themselves, I would respect that right. But they're endangering everyone. Sick, sick, sick! Michigan ought to pass laws immediately to criminalize such selfish, actually murderous misbehavior. This governor was too mild on these really bad citizens.

So basically the governor should just throw away the bill of rights and the constitution because of a virus. 

Take a look at social posts of ultra-wealthy celebrities or politicians from their mansions, piously lecturing everyday American to “stay home!” and telling them globalism is a good thing, and you can understand why in other parts of USA the ordinary 'peasants' have gathered with pitchforks and torches in the town square, demanding to be allowed to work and earn money so they can feed their families and pay their bills.

 

Come November there is going to be a red tide the likes of which has not been seen before. The landslide term one victories of both Trump and Reagan will pale into comparison, and even the anti-Trump lefties will finally have to realise they were wrong. Unless of course they piously think they are right and the people are wrong - we will see.

 

One thing is clear: Stay At Home regulation fits only for riches 

Lots of ignorant moronic people  vying to be this years Darwin award winner ,, its going to be a record  entrance number  this year ,, lots of potential winners .

Your words. Not mine. This is a global pandemic. We all need to take unpleasant measures to get through this with the minimum amount of suffering and death. Those people are selfish. Thinking only of themselves. Not thinking about people that they are basically advocating murdering. That's sick. To try to defend their irresponsible actions is totally indefensible. 

Its not time to open up yet. Follow the scientists. We need much more testing, much more contact tracing, and it needs to be done very slowly or it will BACKFIRE even much worse than before. That's the reality.

This is  valid point up to a point. Middle class people can manage this too. The poor and homeless are very vulnerable. A decent society (which sadly the USA is not really there yet) would have better structure and programs in place to help everyone get through these times. I think after we get through this then there will be a massive leftward shift towards more support for universal health, stronger workers unions, affordable housing programs, and yes eventually guaranteed minimum income.
