What's the longest period of the silent mood you've experienced?

Because she wasn't like that when we married them, and we don't change wives like bargirls.

You're not putting forward a good argument TBH.

What you're basically saying is that someone can change after marriage, treat your like

<deleted> and you have to put up with it.

What is this "silent sulk" and how can I get it?   I've been married 19 years and still waiting for her to shut up.

  • An old old joke :    I didn't realize my wife was dead for over a week.   The sex was the same but the dishes began to pile up

An ex irritated me once, I told her to Shut up...  the silent treatment is great, we still don't speak !!

My wife flies off the handle big-time about 4 times a year.  I don't blame her, she's right.  But after 40+ years of marriage, who is going to change?  I value a day or two of silence now and again.

Yes, but one doesn't have to put up with it.

I used to think people didn't change, but I learned that only men don't change.

My first partner married a violent man. The reason- because she thought she could change him! She changed on me too, which is why I left her.

I doubt any man would get married if they knew in advance what their wife would become in the future.

You're wrong,

Women marry thugs because they like them.

Woman's fist choices of men to mate with, thugs, murderers, drug dealers.

Woman's last choice of men to mate with, nice guys, geeks, men that treat them with respect.

I haven't read many posts here, but i don't like silent treatments at all.

I think it happened twice to me in Thailand, and it lasted less than 24 hours.

I just started to put the gf's stuff near the door, and like a magic, the comedy started again.

I once booked a (refundable) return flight in her name and gave her the paper.

She got on all fours started kissing my feet and begged to be allowed to stay.

True story.

I thought it was just me and her.  i find out the reason was because i smiles back at a girl who smiled at me,  i thought it was the land of smiles.  Best treatment is just do the same back and enjoy it while it lasts.  or try and learn Thai.

I just wonder: why do you guys put up with this?

I used to do this when I was, like, 11. I don't do this anymore, especially if you live together. It's very childish.

Good question, but when so many other things are right, the odd silent spell is not such a big deal.  But it can be frustrating.

doesn't seem like a habit one can just pick up... more like a habit that is ingrained in the deepest part of the personality, that she has maybe managed to hide from you. Heard SOME women are really good at deceiving their partners for years and the men are just too blind or dumb to see he's being deceived.

Women marry thugs because they like them, but they want to change them to someone that will keep them safe and protect her children. They do that because they want A type genes in their child, but once impregnated they want the good guy protector.

That's why a lot of women get impregnated by a bad man, but when they realise the bad guy isn't going to change they get divorced and hook a good guy to be the protector and money provider. Sadly, there are plenty of good guys prepared to bring up bad men's children.

Just wondering what wives (all wives everywhere) would comment on the reverse of the genders in the question.

My wife was very petite when I met her.  Now she has a weight advantage over me.  Who could have guessed?  A 40 percent gain on the investment over 40 some years.  Maybe I'm lucky?

Why don't you start your own thread then? If we cared we probably wouldn't have posted on this thread.

A scene that remains with me for many decades is that of an elderly caucasian man boarding a plane with his Indian wife. No doubt she was some great beauty when he married her, but the hatred he felt for her in the present was notable.

When in Singapore, a friend of mine had a Chinese girlfriend that he adored, and often boasted about her ( she was DDG ). I caught up with him about 10 years later. He had married her and they had a son, but he so despised her that I very much doubt that they remained married for long after.

Almost everyone I know has got divorced, and the ones that haven't often have less than loving relationships.
