The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has suspended 14 interprovincial trains from Sunday (May 3) until further notice, SRT governor Nirut Maneephan announced.

The suspension of services was in compliance with the government’s extension of its Emergency Decree to control the further spread of Covid-19 that includes curtailing the movement of people across provinces, with close monitoring by public health officials.

“The SRT decided to halt interprovincial train services on selected routes to prevent bottlenecking at screening checkpoints,” he said. “We will refund those who had bought tickets.”

The 14 trains suspended are:

Express train 136 (Ubon Ratchathani-Bangkok)

Local train 418 (Nong Khai-Nakhon Ratchasima)

Local train 421 (Nakhon Ratchasima-Ubon Ratchathani)

Local train 426 (Ubon Ratchathani-Nakhon Ratchasima)

Local train 439 (Kaeng Khoy-Bua Yai)

Local train 440 (Bua Yai-Kaeng Khoy)

Local train 489 (Khirirat Nikhom-Surat Thani)
