There was a test done by someone a while back. According to them phones track you when switched off, and send the information when switched back on.

Not if you don't carry it with you all the time.

Whatever data they gather on you will be abused in someway or leaked. I'm not a fan of mass surveillance carried out any governments or multinational corporations.

Do you use facebook or twitter or what'sapp, or lazada etc, or respond to / buy items on any of these sites or similar?

I fear, agree or not we are all headed toward the Chinese governmental model of social control. Beneficial to those in power/control positions. Justification can be the current medical “benefit” or the security need ...

How comical a poll and some posts for a tracking app, and hey presto what pops up on my phone, a way to track a cell phone anywhere in the world, and you think you are not being watched, i am looking at doing a bit of welding so i thought i would have a quick look at you tube, overnight an email to my phone from a welder supply company, and you think you are not being watched

If it's required, I'll just leave my phone home.

it will be compulsory to take a smartphone with you
for truck drivers in my country this has just become mandatory,

but in a moment all drivers will be affected.

my country is currently a guinea pig
they are checking if there is a lot of resistance to laws restricting freedom,

if there is not after a few weeks / months the same bill appears in US.

Mass tracking has its advantages in-the current medical sense, but imagine you are on a track app and happen to stumble on a student demonstration !!! Or similar i fear it would appear that i also attended and supported said demo, not good in that  scenario.

Faraday cage, fabric pouches with copper thread. Shield from electro magnetic energy. Faraday cage is electro magnetic shield. Put your phone in it.

in a pinch aluminum foil.

passive rfid can be read at 10 m easily. International law says 5cm??

mylar bags from typical potato chip bags will work

The immigration office can always track you if they know your telephone number. If you know an officer private, ask him. They have a program where they can find out where you have been during the last 3 weeks. So this app makes no difference in the end.

I have lead sheeting. If I'm ever forced to have a tracking device smartphone I'll make myself a phone cover to put it in when out. I only carry my very old phone when out in case my car breaks down.

No. I don't believe the app will taking only a few MB's from my phone in which memory space is sacred and you know where I am from the tm47 which is sufficient to find me.

Im sure you understand, its not  where they can find you its who have you been close to who nay have been a carrier.
