Malls head list of venues due to reopen at end of week

The government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration on Monday (May 11) revealed the draft list of venues and activities allowed to reopen or restart under the second phase of lockdown easing, which is expected to take place on Sunday, May 17.

 

The list is not final and more items may be added later, said the centre’s spokesperson Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin. The list will be finalised on May 15.

 

1. Shopping malls, community malls and department stores – except for cinemas, bowling alleys, fitness centres, water theme parks, fun parks, convention halls and Buddha image shops.

 

2. Food outlets in office buildings – including restaurants, canteens, beverage shops, ice cream and dessert shops.

 

3. Retail and wholesale shops.

 

4, Beauty salons (for treatments that take no longer than two hours), nail salons.

 

5. Beauty clinics, slimming centres.

 

6. Outdoor sports stadiums (no spectators allowed).

 

7. Floral gardens, botanical gardens, museums, public libraries, galleries.

 

8. Traditional massage shops (foot massage only).

 

9. Production of TV programmes, advertising and fashion shoots (crew limited to five).

 

10. Meetings inside and outside workplaces via video conferencing software.

With schools closed for another month and half, please add kids play area, such as Harborland to the list.

I believe "fun parks" would cover Harborland. 

What I find a bit weird is the 1 pot per 1 person suki rule. You can be locked up with the family all month, but can't eat the same suki ?

And what about swimming pools of condominium buildings. Almost no one present.  All owners gone home and cannot come back due to restrictions. And the few left are not a health hazard. So please add swimming pools.

CCSA to draw up a list of business and leisure activities which can resume

Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) is likely to decide on Friday on a full list of business and leisure activities which will be allowed to resume, as part of the second phase of lockdown relaxations, Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin said today.

 

He said that, for the time being, the issue remains open, but he hinted at the retail, wholesale and leisure activities that are likely to be allowed to resume on Sunday.

 

They include shopping malls, community malls, with the exception of movie theatres, bowling alleys, fitness clubs, amusement parks and conference halls located in malls, beauty salons offering hair-curling and dyeing services as well as nail services, eateries in office buildings, beauty clinics, weight loss clinics, out-door team sport events, but without spectators, botanical gardens, galleries and Thai foot massage parlours.

 

Dr. Taweesin said that business operators will be given time to prepare their premises before they reopen.

 

Regarding compliance with regulations, by business and leisure activities reopened last week, he said checks of about 18,000 venues show only 2.37% in violation and 30.49% not fully observing regulations.

 

Regarding the tracing application, which has been used successfully in South Korea, China and Taiwan, the CCSA spokesman said that the smartphone system works like a check-in system at hotels, where guests are asked to give their names and contact numbers.

 

He claimed that the tracing system should not be viewed as an intrusion by the state into the right to privacy of individuals, but a system that benefits the public and business operators in the wake of the pandemic.

Already added. My communal pool opened on Monday.

Maybe it is, but Condo pools are not included yet. And probably not until the next stage in late may/early June.

At a press conference in Bangkok today held by the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, the English language spokesman for the CCSA, Mr. Natapanu Nopakun, specifically said that condo and public pools would remain closed.

The statement, which can be found at about 11 minutes and 40 seconds below, states that at this time the Public Health Ministry and CCSA will keep pools closed.

The reasoning given is due to health related concerns and inability to limit number of people at condominium pools.

Chonburi area officials with the Chonburi Communicable Disease Committee have previously addressed pools also, stating that they were concerned people would use them, including condo pools, as a gathering location to socialize, drink and eat around pools versus pure exercise. Under the current Emergency Decree laws to control the potential spread of the Covid-19 Coronavirus, gatherings for the purpose of socializing, especially over drinks, is forbidden.

As a result at this time the CCSA confirmed today that pools will be not be approved to be lifted in the next phase, Sunday May 17th, and will stay closed at least until the end of May and the third phase, expected to start in June, based on the severity of the Covid-19 Coronavirus situation in Thailand.

The juristic manager phoned city hall on Monday morning. Pool was open Monday afternoon.

City Hall have no authority to countermand CCSA regulations (only the Governor of Chonburi province, and then only in certain things), so as per the CCSA orders posted above, all pools (except home pools) are to be closed until further notice. this includes communal Condo and all Housing estates (gated or not).

So if your Estate is getting away with it, then good luck, but it is in violation.

Actually my pool is..as its in my garden..but thanks for caring!.

Your attitude is exactly why giving correct info on TV is not worth it at times..but I'm not that bovvered.

Bhudda image shops in Thailand are actually very busy at times..it is a big business in thailand.

Shops can get very crowded with guys bargaining and also auctions for various images.
