Well then, I hope you don't live here, because most people like it just fine. People who see nothing but negatives are merely projecting what's inside themselves.

there are none so blind as those who will not see

Do you how many Thai families/individual live off the principle income of a pensioner/foreigner in LOS?

Sadly, thousands....

But if the pensioner in particular is happy with this, thats his business.

One of the dangers of growing old in Thailand ... make sure your family do not have a history of dementia ... because then your fate is tied to the kindness (or unkindness) of strangers.

I know a guy just like that..only worse

He has no family whatsoever back home, none here, zero thai language and dementia is already takin hold.

if Your dumb enough to disclose what assets you have to these one track minded people....

Go Thailand.....Enjoy yourself,Pay your way,Respect the law and customs. It can never be home to foreigners, whereby you have rights.

You will be a tolerated guest(s) at best.

The thread will run and run.

unfortunately yes

If you read the ''story'' a lot of red lights already turned on

a family in UK go ''on line'' rather than go to police

a ''rescuer'' with a backstory of being a crook

an immediate call for funds on internet

come on....

This sounds like a scam. He could have just gotten the guy out of there or called the police. The British Embassy with repatriate the man for free if he wants to go home to the UK. Why would they need £2000

The story has been updated on https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/d-theodore

All the money raised so far should be held and not released, until it is known if this is a scam or not?

In the ''storyboard'' by the ''rescuer'' write

''This afternoon have spoken to the British conuslate in Bangkok , and have been advised to seek help from family members , and friends back in the Uk , they also mentioned setting up a go-fund me campaign . Sad to see that after many years fighting for Queen and Country , when in your hour of need , it seems the wheels of support turn very slowly . sad but true SO HERE WE ARE''

imo It should be very intersting to find a way and see if the British consulate in Bangkok can confirm this one, if someone on TV have a contact please ask

them
