Changing The Horn On A Motorbike

Recommended Posts

I have a Honda Wave 100cc. I would like to change the horn to something a little more powerful. As it is now, it sounds like a mosquito and no one pays any attention to it.

Does anyone know a place around Bangna where I could have it changed? And what could I expect to pay?

Thanks in advance for your help.

It is very easy as the horn is under the front fairing and any motorcycle shop can do it.

Some horns you can buy are funny in they sound like a car or a police siren.

Should be around 150 baht

Thanks for that. Do you know any places to buy a horn? So far I haven't seen any, and they definitely don't have them at the local shop I use for oil/tire changes etc...

A motorcycle accessory place will have them , they are pretty common all over Thailand.

Ok thanks again. I'll take a look around tomorrow and see what I can find.

A friend of mine put an air horn on his Phantom. He delighted in scaring the sh!t out of people. And, yes it was an air horn. It used compressed air from a small tank. He spent more time pumping up that tank than he spent riding. I do know he had the shop where he bought the bike install the horn. I also know he was threatened a number of time with severe bodily harm.

Well, I went to a couple of nearby shops today and they did have a couple of horns. One of them was a horn that sounded like an ambulance, which I certainly didn't want.

The other horn was a dual, external horn that was very big and loud and sounded like a large truck. Actually, this is what I'm looking for. The people in the shop couldn't put it in for me, but sent me across the street to another repair shop.

But the people in that shop refused to put it in, because they were afraid they might wire it incorrectly and damage the bike. Wasn't really sure what they were saying since my Thai is atrocious.

Anyone heard anything about this?

Off topic a little, but I had a loud turn signal beeper installed in my Honda Wave. I''m a little embarrased about it, but reckon it might save my life. Cost about 200 baht and the Honda dealer in Chiang Mai knew exactly what I wanted.

That's a good idea. May invest in one myself. Seems like the Honda dealer is the best place to do it.
