should be a thread about girly bars in general not just go-go bars

there was clearly a problem before covid started, now you'll have less tourists for a variety of reasons

then you have bar owners that can't afford to re-open or have sold the business

not sure it'll be the same again. hopefully more prostitution apps get released

They are not "prostitution apps", they are dating apps but hookers use them to tout for business and get banned if people complain about them on there. If you want hookers then try this finfin.vip it's a web page directory of hookers, prices, services offered and reviews in BKK.

Interesting question.

Now I've only been to Pattaya twice when we went to visit my wife's sister, so I'm no expert on the place.

But I was shocked how many bars, aka hooker bars there were. How many horn dog tourists can there be to support that number even in the good times?

Previous comments are right, the young don't get sex, paid for or otherwise, in bars, it's all online. I remember a conversation with one of my daughters about where she met her boyfriend, her reply 'Duh, everyone gets dates online nowadays'

Tourists won't be coming back anytime soon, even when travel restrictions are lifted, a lot of folks bank balances will be decimated, so I doubt a multi hour airplane trip to Thailand is going to be on their to do list any time soon!

So a lot of the bars will simply close through, basically bankruptcy and insolvency. There will always be a market for the older clientele, but I think the volume will be much reduced

Without the red light areas Pattaya is finished.

You funny!   I lived in Pattaya for 4 years and everytime there was a Thai holiday or long weekend the Thai population seemed to triple!  Because Pattaya is close to Bangkok loads of Thai's take advantage of that closeness.  Knock shops may be under the hammer at this moment but things will change.  I am probably not alone in saying it's  a bit of fun to go around the beer bats and gogos to interact with some cheeky and cute little honeys.  That's going back in time.  The trend now seems to be any girl can get a job in a beer bar and being pretty is less important than making up the numbers to sit ouT in the street and schmooze the punters.

It would nice if they after 1-2 year fit in at least basic education if

only 1-2 hours a week. ... of course it would be the person that wanted an education instead of quick money

I believe the go go bars will come back but its going to take a long time if ever to be back before it was pre virus. First there must be tourists and that is not looking good right now

If anyone is interested in having a go go bar then read this https://www.stickmanbangkok.com/weekly-column/2020/05/opportunity-awaits-at-nana-plaza/

Interesting and timely to this thread that 7 bars in Nana Plaza have called it quits. More to follow?

Two questions this article doesn't answer is what is the price to buy a bar and how much is the rent? I heard rents are sky high in Nana Plaza.

Until they are allowed to open and when tourists are allowed to come back it's uncertain if more will go. I think rents will be pang mak, but a good go go bar can make a lot of money and you can also lose a lot of money. Billboard, Butterflies and Rainbow 4 are the best ones, Rainbow 1 and 3 going probably means that there will be a downturn in customers.

I picked the first choice The bars will return to their pre-covid-19

As long as tourism will be back to normal, go go bars will always be something exotic in Thailand, and not only Westerners  but more Chinese tourists want to experience this and can afford to pay for the entertainment.

The Chinese mostly take photos outside and don't really indulge in the entertainment. The Japanese and Korean men are the target audience for go go bars.

Don't forget the tourist value of such places, even if not frequented by all there will always be the "Must Have a Look" attraction for tourists.....!!

When? the situation changes I reckon there will be tighter rules etc for the 'go-go bars'.

A sort of slow strangulation situation that will slowly but surely kill them off.

If any survive long term my feeling is they will be on the lines of the very expensive Japanese only type places.

soapy massage, etc are pretty unique propositions.

Wash everything with lots of bubbles, supposed to kill Corona. It's the heavy breathing part...

theyre finished as the price structure wont work any more ,its all cheap charlies from now on

the glory days are gone due to high prices on top of covid

spinner bars may get some traffic but small size

they wont be able to cover their costs as they need mug punters to survive

too many munters nowadays to atttract the big money

The younger generations also want sex shows, they must be tired of looking at porn on their smart phones and want to experience it live in Thailand.

Officially these places don't exist, so it would be easy to keep them shut //

Uh?

Of course they exists, legally, and have special licenses for this entertainment.

I agre, far too many $1k quality gals asking for huge coin. Hopefully closing 50 percent of the bars will put these gals back where they belong, beach road or suhkomvit, and put some quality back in the bars. But with the age of the Internet, best of luck.

but the range of pachyderms and hippos in the average Gogo bar over the last few years will be culled by the combined effects of C19 and the apps.

And the horny rhinos who watch them may suffer the same fate.

Money laundering is another reason. Have you seen the dodgy foreigner types who own beer bars, go go bars, sports bar and clubs in BKK. I've heard a few stories from a friend who manages a sports bar in BKK and I know one guy who is in BKK with connections to a terrorist group.

when i was a US Navy Seal we tried to take this group out.
