so THAI will takes booking and your money and will not and can not guarantee you a flight..

Could that be because it depends on the Australian government, if those flight will commence on that date.

Has the Australian government guaranteed that starting that date inbound flights from Thailand are allowed?

This appears to be their core business model now, based on my last dealings with them last year.  They will also refuse to honor their own terms & conditions printed on the e-ticket, if it results in them owing you money.  My advice is to find ANY other airline going to Australia when international flights restart.

Do you know any airline that behaves differently?  (now,  during Covid)

Can't anyone sue them for this?

Are you serious? Sue them, where would you think that anyone would have any chance of winning such a case?

As Steven says, a good chuckle to start the day.:cheesy:

In theory you should be able to utilize the remaining value, and based on fare bucket availability, buy up. That would be with a normal airline, in normal times. TG, and today are neither.

Purchasing a new ticket from TG now seems foolish. Maybe just flush the cash down the toilet?

If you have to fly, maybe try SQ via SIN (believe Changi is allowing transit pax now or will very soon)? There may be other options. Don't think TG will fly internationally much before October or November, other than the odd repatriation flights, if at all.

TG has pretty much put refunds on hold. I would hope they would be refunded in full but 50/50 on this as of today. Some people have pursued the charge-back option, but your CC may not accept that, and it might ultimately not be approved.

Called THAI call center this morning after seeing that you can book flight to Australia starting August, can i use my cancelled ticket money you have been holding for the last 3 months to book new flight same W class ticket? no sir, no W class and you can't use this money to book a new flight you will have to pay a new and wait "few months" for your refund, BUT, she went on to say, even tough THAI website allows you to book and pay i wouldn't if i were you, and that because although you have booked and paid, there still no guarantee that such flight will take place so call us back in couple of weeks time and MAYBE there will be more definitive answers...

To be fair, no one knows if a flight you book today on any airline will be able to go ahead in August and she advised you accordingly not to book it now.  That seems like sensible advice and she asked you to call back in a couple of weeks when there might be clearer information.  What's wrong with that?

so THAI will takes booking and your money and will not and can not guarantee you a flight.. Way to go THAI and no wonder why your business is in the crapper and broke...

Er......did I misread it?  You said you she advised you not to make the booking because they can't guarantee an August flight right now.  So that is the opposite of taking your money, surely?  All airlines will accept online bookings and it is up to the consumer to check.  You did well.

Also not sure if you have heard of Covid-19?  It's a virus that's been going around.  Countries are in lockdown, borders and airports are closed around the world.  But you want someone to guarantee you that the pandemic will not come back for a second wave, will not get worse, and that all countries will happily open up by August for you and all flights will be back to full schedule?  And it is Thai Airways' fault they can't?

She gave you the correct advice, not sure what your problem is.  Did you just need a little rant to kickstart your day?
