I can just imagine it now.

Rubber roads and worn rubber tyres on cars, buses, trucks and motor bikes.

Some heavy rain combined with greasy oily road surface.

No need to imagine has beem inplemented in many countries already. But of course the Thaivisa posters know better

Question is who in prayut's family own a rubber tree farm?

Bang on the money there MyTHaiMyKe.

For a few years rubber tree have been ripped up all over Thailand, due to reduced demand for the latex. About 6 months ago there suddenly came a demand for young rubber trees. The lady, in a big nursery in the North East (Isaan), showed me her order book. She told me that many of her customers were government officials. What did they know?

The demand for trees has come so fast that she is struggling to meet requirements.

The Ministry of Transport is to also cover concrete barricades with natural rubber

But the core will still be concrete so the immovability will remain .. Coating them in rubber will have motors bouncing off like a pinball table .. They need collapsible barriers that absorb the energy in a smash ..

Another good initiative implemented by Khun Prayut Chan O Cha,  job creation which is badly needed as well as a reliable source of income for rubber tree farmers.

a far more cost effective and environmentally beneficial method would be recycling old tyres, as is done in many other countries.

See my post #10.

Yes this method is based on an old method used at the beginning of the last century. I believe some sort of plastic is currently being used in the mix but now plastic is being widely recycled, this method will recycle as you say old tyres.

Strang replies....rubber roads are actually very good. Entire North-South hwy in Malaysia is built this way decades ago. Best quality highway in entire South-East Asia.

PM Prayut signs agreement for rubber roads

He's not the Smartest goat in the paddock,  why use New Rubber When there are Billions of old Tires used all over the World they get chopped up and mixed with the aggregate tar and other components.

He should just make the tire manufactures  to use More Real rubber in making the Tires.

By weight, the tread compounds of a conventional tire contain about 28 percent natural rubber, which comes from latex sap, 28 percent synthetic rubber, which is made from oil, and 28 percent carbon black filler—a soot like reinforcing agent that is produced by partially burning fossil fuels.  ????

 utilizing 1,063,651 rubber trees

I just love it when they throw out these stats. This is how many rubber trees we need, EXACTLY. not 1 more, not 1 less.

That's how you know it's b0llocks

Amusing. Do we actually have a supporter of this guy on this forum? Amazing. He would love it if you would contact him. He needs all the support he can get, as virtually every Thai I speak to openly despises him, and his spectacularly toxic army. I doubt many ex-pats care for him either, after 6 years of xenophobic policy.

Yeah, sad innit. Surely tongue in cheek though, perish the thought of tongue going elsewhere.

- How many condoms can you make from an old car tyre?

- 365 if it’s a Goodyear.

150 is a good year for me now.
