Why not? Thailand occasionally has some sensible ideas which make it stand out as a leader in Asia.

It's pretty much the only country in Asia that allows gun ownership (for citizens). Of course many progressives and anti-gun people won't like this, but it's true. Contrast this to China where the death penalty is imposed for illegal possession of a gun and Vietnam, where length jail sentences apply.

Cannabis - Thailand has been trying to legalize it for medicinal purposes. I do realize things are still a long way off from proper legalization and the big pharmaceutical companies will try to get their patent on it and monopolize production, but it's still a step in the right direction. No other Asian country has even come close; most of them, including Malaysia and Singapore will execute traffickers of a certain quantity. Yes, unbelievable.

And now prostitution.

How does that make it a "leader" in Asia?

Seems China and Vietnam have got it right then. Do you really like to hear about gun deaths everyday? you are calling that sensible? You need help if you do. :post-4641-1156694572:

He wants to legalize it so that there are not so many rape cases. That the people can go to prostitutes. Has this minister ever been out at night? Legal or not - nobody cares.

The death penalty is not applicable to gun possession in China. Being on the wrong end of a gun when someone dies however.....or gun running...where fatalities result...
