Pattaya's highly vocal, strongarm mayor Sontaya Khunpluem is determined that Covid-19 will not return to his resort.

Even though the government announced the opening of many businesses and schools and an end to curfew in Phase 4 of lockdown release that started on Monday, he told Sophon Cable TV that he had no intention of allowing the city to let down its guard.

He said that when it came to Pattaya the confidence of tourists was key. They wanted to come to a place where there was no infection and he was going to see to that especially when it came to the resort's beaches.

With this in mind he reiterated that deckchair vendors must limit the space they offer to afford social distancing, they must have strict health measures in place and even tourists who set up their own mats must be apart from each other.

Everyone on the beach will be encouraged to wear masks.

The story on Facebook was accompanied by pictures that showed very few tourists were actually on the beach.

Sontaya is part of an infamous Chonburi family whose patriarch, the now deceased Kamnan Poh, was convicted of murder.

It would appear that there is again a problem in China from a new strain of Covid

Again the outbreak seems to be from a market in Beijing, but there are also flair ups of Covid19 again in Wuhan, and a city called Shulan.

These are  the places tat are known about, but there could , and probably are, more.

And also today, a report of an outbreak in Germany.

Covid19 is a long way from running out of steam, so the Kunpluems will have to wait it out on the Eastern Seaboard until the Dinner bell rings.

There is only one thing that will make Pattaya Covid safe.  Vaccine.

We all better hope there's a vaccine then.

You been out of your house/condo/caravan in the last 3 months?

Better keep getting the food parcels delivered. It's a jungle out there.

The ONS in the UK now put the incident of coronavirus in the population at 0.0006.

I would suggest more chance of an airplane landing on you.

Enjoy.

That's fine.  Neither will tourists.  However, my guess is that Mr. Strongarm is independently wealthy are are most of the upper-crust "leaders" and as such could care less if the local economy tanks and never recovers.  Sucks for the locals though.

Yeah.  A "feel-good" vaccine.  Seasonal flu vaccines have an efficacy rate of about 40%.  Yeah, it pads the bottom line of the balance sheets for the drug makers and at best provides the recipient of the vaccine with a "feel-good" moment where they believe that they are immune.  <laughs>
Now Gates and company have frightened the unwashed masses into believing that they will all die if they contract SARS-Cov2 which has a 99.96% survival rate.  The public will demand to be safe, and their governments will comply by allowing vaccines to hit the market that will be mandated for all humans on Earth.
$$$Cha-Ching$$$ but will have only been marginally tested as they are "fast-tracked to save humanity." <laughs>  They don't need to be safe.  The drug maker is completely indemnified by the governments.  Human guinea pigs!  Who needs test animals?
But - after that you'll be allowed back in to Pattaya and beyond for what's left of your probably shortened life-span.
It's a coming... And for those whom are married to Thais or retired in Thailand - plan to get a jab if you want to stay.  If you don't get the jab, you'll be getting the boot!  <Bomp>

Really cares about tourists...... utter bollo@cks..

The Jet ski scam being going for twenty years plus with local ambassadors well aware of the gravy chain all the way to the local head honchos family, with RTP complicit and the tourist police if not involved ordered to back off.

Tourists having large amounts of money extorted and threats of violence all with the full knowledge of him and his extended clan at the money troughs.

All about money and they dont give a damn about image reputation etc ...all of which we have to accept.

However seeing the endless press releases of pure hypocrisy published daily is galling, need to stop reading this garbage from various officials.

What a plonker.

There are no tourists and there won't be for along time.

Easy for him to sit in his city hall office on a salary when they've done nothing to help the poverty stricken.

Is that the same city hall office Thai  Citizens could go to to apply for financial aid ?
