Daily News reported that Region 6 special forces of the Crime Suppression Division along with the military, local police and protection agencies busted an online casino being operated at a downtown hotel in Mae Sot yesterday.

A total of 185 foreign migrant workers were arrested and then transported away in six wheel trucks with canvas surrounds. They were shown in long queues in pictures published by the media.

About 100 computers were taken into evidence. The hotel on Inthornkhiri Road was not named.

The town borders Myanmar in Tak province in Thailand's north west

The media said that the hotel was bought by a Chinese national who was in the process of a multi-million baht refurbishment.

The inquiry is being expanded to discover who was behind the operation.

Who says a foreigner can't?

Perhaps under BOI rules? Or more likely, seeing it's a Chinese national, many of whom don't like doing things the official way and thus can't get money out the country - he's using a Thai nominee.

In most normal cases, a foreigner can own 49% of a Thai company anyway and I'm sure this would apply to a hotel business as well.

Those pesky Chinese love their gambling...

The Thaiger stated that it was 224 arrested and that the majority were Chinese nationals who were running the gambling operation from rented or purchased homes and hotels. It's funny that such a big news story hasn't made it onto the TVF "Thailand news" thread.

It seems to be a lot of Chinese gangs who are responsible for organised crime in Thailand especially in gambling, online scams, fraud, Cryptocurrency scams etc etc.

Yet farang are the medias favourite dogs to blame.

And yet it was front page local news in Mae Sot and even mentioned in more prominent national papers.
