Stadtler wants to put meat in his mouth.

Featured Replies

Stadtler's favourite haunt for real American style baby back ribs has succumbed to the government shutdown.  Stadtler knew the owner of Tony Roma's franchise wanted to fully retire and it appears she took the opportunity to close shop at Terminal 21 in Bangkok.

Stadtler wants to go where they want to put their meat in your mouth and is now without an expectation of a supreme meat experience.

Where can Stadtler go in the Bangkok vicinity to feed his lust for meat?  Specifically, baby back ribs done American style and not wet and drippy like most Thai establishments serve their ribs.

Who can help Stadtler?

Off topic. Oh dear.

Stadtler begs to differ with Lacessit as baby back ribs are beefy in a pork kind of way, with very little fat.

Stadtler loves to put this meat in his mouth and now finds himself adrift in a meatless world.  What can he do?

Are you fussy about what kind of meat you put in your mouth ?

Lacessit has consumed both, so he can make a valid comparison. Lacessit would like to know what quirk impels Stadtler to refer to himself in the third person.

If there is a Rimping supermarket near Stadtler, there will be beef imported from the USA and Australia. He will then need a GF to cook it for him.

Stadtler is most fussy about anything that goes into his mouth.

Back on topic, with all the truly excellent export-quality pork available in Thailand, I am pretty sure that in Bangkok there must be at least half-a-dozen quality eateries that can beat that cloned Tony Roma's rubbish.

Now, whether they are open (or will re-open) is another matter.

FWIW, there used to be three places in Pattaya that did ribs traditional US style with the best being Rich Man Poor Man on Jomtien that sadly closed well before the pandemic, then the newer Smokin' Joe's BBQ on Soi Lengkee that IMHO was better than their older, next door neighbor Lone Star.

If you want to try DIY, shop here.

Gimme a break here, let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

Rubbish? Stadtler scoffs at such a maligning moniker, maliciously murdering the reputation of such a fine meat establishment.  The ribs were divine.  Stadtler warns NanLaew not to speak of dead meat in such a fashion.

Possibly size mattered. Was your nickname at school Peewee?

Bratwurst, Boerewors and Cumberland sausage out there, and you prefer smoked salt?

Would one Andouille be satisfactory , or would you prefer two ?

Finally WEus finds a winner in that torturedsole is surely a man that wants to get meat into Stadtler's mouth.

Stadtler looked at the SmokingPUGbbq's menu and was a bit dismayed (he was) in that there was no dog on the menu.  The pug part perplexed Stadtler beyond a predefined position.

No matter, Stadtler is happy to see:

Baby Back Pork Ribs

Tender, slow cooked ribs dry rubbed in the Pug’s secret seasonings. Coated with our Kansas City style sauce and topped with onion strings. Served with slaw, beans and cornbread. (Full Rack enough for 2)

Baby Back ribs dry rubbed and with secret seasonings, oh Stadtler.  However, Stadtler takes issue with the last part in parentheses and does not believe that there would be enough for Stadtler to share.

Stadtler is a very big man and enjoys large amounts of meat in his mouth.  He will share the beans.

The only size that matters is how big is the full rack?

Stadtler is much disappointed in that he got few recommendations for a proper meat in the mouth establishment.

Anywhere in Bangkok proper will suffice.

...

A 'meat in the mouth establishment'?

Probably not allowed to share the addresses of such establishments on the Forum... ????

There's an Outback Steakhouse in the Siam Discovery Center near Siam BTS....  And, both the Central World and Central Chidlom  Markets in their takeout/eat-in Food Story sections have pretty good ribs... dry, not saucy... But I think they're both pork ribs instead of beef ribs.... I wanna say they do one variety that's called "St. Louis BBQ" style.

You might also check on the restaurant called "Smokin' Pug" in the Langsuan area... They specialize in U.S. BBQ.

I see they have baby back pork ribs and an Australian beef rib item...  You'll pay for your pleasure...

Stadtler being a medical doctor, and a licensed Psychiatrist in the USA appreciates the mental health suggestion.  Stadtler has known many fine Psychotherapists in his illustrious and very long career.  Stadtler will take xylophone's suggestion under advisement.

A best case scenario would be a competent psychotherapist who also has a smoker in the backyard.

I'm informed that some of this lot will "smoke" upon request...  For a man who wants meat in his mouth...

Is there a smoker in the picture?  Stadtler's eyes are not what they were 80 years ago.

Perhaps you need to check their smoking skills via closer inspection...

You tell Stadtler if he is mistaken, but not one of the ladies is holding a piece of meat.
