The world has changed in the last 6 months, countries are protecting their own citizens first and foremost. For the time being globalization is over and insular policies prevail.

He's still a British Citizen. Living one of the most socialist states in the world - free health care, free social housing if you get lost, partially subsidised dental care, free education, and if you don't have a job you get some free social payouts.

"Oh poor me, i won't get any help, i'll be on the streets'.

Excuses and utter nonsense.

Yes it's not the Thai governments concern if someone has a wife and kids in Thailand and you visit on a tourist visa.

How is he funding his Thai wife and kid? He still doesn't disclose. One minute he says he will be homeless and then he is flying internationally, and supporting a family. With what funds?

One bedroom appartments in the UK. Never asked for a reference ever.  Simple request is usually a months rent in advance. The amnesty of no evictions is also set to expire, if it hasn't already.

It's not always as simple as that. I'm a British citizen, but I haven't lived there for more than 16 years. Instead, I have been resident in another country for work. I have no home in the UK, so repatriation would render me homeless. My country of residence/work has not yet opened its borders to non-citizens. So, when I arrived in Thailand on a 30 day stamp in March, I had expected to leave before April. Now, I am at a loss as to what to do if the Thai immigration doesn't extend the amnesty or offer extensions that can be paid for.

So what your saying is, your home country is allowing you entry should you chose to.

Thanks, that rules out the UK denying entry to its citizens, now to find out which ones are.

Pay, black listed, or kicked out.

Hopefully. Don't need freeloaders here. If they ain't spending money out they go.

When you return to the UK to update your passport where do you stay ?

It is entirely possible to renew your Passport whilst remaining in Thailand.

I did my 90 day online report a few days early.

The application was still pending after a week (No reply & the App was not working) so I went to immigration with a copy of the Online TM47 Receipt on Tuesday (Special Holiday), and then again yesterday where they processed it

at the original date a week ago, so I got less than 90 days.

The whole process at Blueport HH took 20 minutes as there were very few people there.

What a nonsense these reports are. Unnecessary stress, travel and expense.

I would think the Thai Government should be compassionent.  Why would they not grant furthur amnesty to those in Thailand.  Are they a drain on the economy or the Thai citizens

it would completely empty the few pubs that opened in pattaya that are currently seeing some level of business - yes there are a handful seeing good numbers

Very few people are 100% stranded.

And if they are, it's probably their own doing. They should have travelled befits the restrictions.

So you have funds to support a Thai family. What is the source of these funds? You also have funds to commute between countries.

Why would you end up homeless if you returned to the UK, when you clearly have some funds.

If you have to return to the UK, then i'm sure your Thai family will have to look after themselves till you sort yourself out.

Don't be looking for excuses, especially when they make no sense. The UK, is one of the most socialist states in the world. If you have a national insurance number (which i'm sure you do if you are travelling the world), then the state will provide you with accomodation. If that takes a little time, use your funds to get yourself some temporary accomodation. You won't be homeless.

Maybe he disgusts the UK as much as I disgust Germany.

Cool story, but does not answer my question.

The article says people have not been able to go home due to closed home borders, which countries have not allowed its citizens to return ?

None, that have put their signature on the international agreement on the "right of return".

There is a huge difference between "not allowed" and measures or circumstances that may make it difficult to return.

No countries deny entry to its own citizens even if you don't have a passport, they can't.

Do you think people are using this as an excuse to stay in Thailand?

Do bears poo in the woods ? I would say a large number are milking the situation. Just my opinion you understand.

My 90 day report was due on 29 June, obviously aware of the amnesty so was in no rush.
I thought Immigration would be busy at the end of the month so I attempted to do the report via the app, to no avail.
We needed to go to BluPort yesterday so I took my passport on the offchance that they wouldn't be busy, they weren't.
The very pleasant IO processed my report very quickly, I was in and out of the office in less than five minutes, and there was a guy called before me.
The next report is marked as 90 days from yesterday, no no days lost.
The IO thought they would be very busy at the end of the month, she added that whilst they've received no guidance yet, her view is that there would be no further extension, she stressed that was only her opinion.
I do think that the whole 90 day report is an utter waste of time, serving no meaningful purpose whatsoever, I'm sure that IO's time could be better used.

do not want to complicate things but where do us non imm O (married to Thai) visa holders stand?

i was due to do a 90 day report in May, and read on here they had  been put on hold ? and we do not need to report ? until further notice,

i have since done a TM30 in June but i am thinking of heading to Jomtien in case they decide to make an issue out of this? as they do like to keep us on our toes. any body know where we stand.

i think as long as "the BOSS" does not allow tourists, we will just get another amnesty

any way you will not get any defenitives before 30 july as usual

Was at CW in bkk yesterday helping a friend who had just moved up from Phuket and had never been before, plus he bought coffee and lunch so win for me. I decided to do my 90 day report while there and was told by the nice IO at the counter that it was good I did it before the 13th as this and other services are being moved to impact arena here after that. That doesn’t sound good for extending the amnesty but at least they are planning ahead for large crowds. no I didn’t ask about which other services as I don’t need to extend until May of next year.
